Email from Ticketek, Port offering 2 for 1 tickets

They might get 10 000 there after all
I deleted my email without reading it.

You think they would have worked out by now I bought the ticket for a Port home Showdown & have no interest...

Ps. Emailed a complaint to the SMA about the lack of catering staff & huge queues at the bars. I gave up trying to get a drink from half time.

They did call back & struggling to find staff & about a third down. She said a Port supporter blamed the sma for remaining sober given the result lol.

Ok, second hand info here so take with a grain of salt.

Was talking to an ex Port Power player on Saturday and he said that Port Powers cut price football department is starting to have an affect on development. A few of the young fella’s are disappointed with the lack of feedback etc. Kenny has pulled back from the development side of things and doesn’t spend the time he once did with the younger brigade.

Pyke was the same. But their football department is definitely weaker

Just before Billy Frampton picks up the ball, it was Houston who did a kick in mid-air which could have gone anywhere whereas it would have been more logical to create a stoppage which would have run the clock down.

What I think you find which distinguishes an average player, good player and a very good player is what do they do in a pressure moment and explains why some players are not regulars in their side - under pressure their weaknesses are magnified. I think that question was answered a few times on Friday night.

I still don’t understand how Matthew Nicks was laughing and smiling just before Dawson was about to take the kick. Wonder what was going thru his mind.
Apparently Dawson saw him on the big screen when he was kicking for goal and it relaxed him enough to slot it through.
That's what he said on fiveaa the next day.

Wow a Thursday night game vs the premier and they have to give away tickets.

Port are screwed once that cliff comes, the Powah Bandwagoners will be leaping off

I would love on the Crows socials them doing a clip with Murphy trying to make that kick.

And him nailing it, of course.

Nah would be a great video if he took 20 shots and then someone spliced the video of all the balls falling short, going out on the full or dribbling through for a point. None going through for a goal - just to rub it in a bit more

Bit like how the cricket does a "collection" of where are bowler lands his deliveries and how they deviate off the pitch.

Hinkley has "earned" nearly $8M in total from them in the last 10 years so he has enough for retirement and Port Power see this as their last ditch attempt at the premiership with their current list so both parties don't cares about developing the youngsters and probably explain why their SANFL side is so sh*t. They are on par or even worst state compared to what we had to do with our list after 2019.

I've got a mate who is from the US. He lived in Adelaide for 3 years, supported AFC, but was taken to a Port Power match one time by work mates.

He was telling me about the experience, 'Half the crowd looked like ice addicts, it was messed up'.
Similar comments from a Canadian friend of mine who noticed the marked difference between a Crows crowd and the ferals’ crowd.

Lets not forget, he has now lost 3 games after the siren in the last few years. I dont know his record in close games, but it would be very interesting to critique that.

Port will think they can still make the finals, in two weeks time, reality will set in when they are 0-5.
Their record for close matches was pretty good last year.

But I think a lot of it was good luck and they won the close ones against the teams that were middle of the road or poor not the ones near them on the ladder.

When is Will Day contracted to?

We never recovered from the 2017 GF. The disappointment caused a seismic fissure in our playing ranks and in the club itself. We didn’t lack for talent but we fell apart

Port are still suffering from the 2021 PF loss. They could taste the premiership

Momentum is cumulative. And that boulder has been rolling down hill since September last year.

They’re 0-4, not just 0-3 in 2022

They’ll be 0-5 in 2022 and probably 1-7.

That’s the end of 2022, the end of this entire cycle. The end of some senior players, the end of Koch & Ken, the end of this entire cycle of contention with nothing

It’s slipping, slipped away. They can feel it, it’s gone and they know it

They’re being crushed by disappointment, expectation, and by knowing it’s already over

We know what that’s like, and the die is already cast. Turns out the Doggies ripped their heart out and it’s over

I almost feel sorry for them - but where’s the fun in that ;)

That’s what happens when you’re under pressure. People revert back into the shells, stop prioritising longer term actions and only worry about immediate wins

The whole club is now running on a 3 day time horizon, just trying to arrest the slump

Yet, that is what fuels the downward cycle

Remember when we did the Stocker trade, we did it because we were just going to bounce back. 2018 was just an anomaly

Was it?

I remember SOS saying what if we stayed down? We all laughed. He had a point.

We were in denial…

Same thing, exact same seismic fissure is already in action across the road
They've given their second round pick this year away already haven't they? Pretty sure it went to West Coast.

Ouch.

And Punt Road also. Tigers look very shaky indeed.

We had the same thing at a cafe for lunch a couple of weeks back. Slow service, the manager apologised and said they've only just gone back to capacity, lost most of their staff during COVID and now struggling to get (suitably experienced) staff. I'm sure it's a real issue in some hospo.

Henley beach cafes are thriving.

She mentioned that many of the students who use to work got cashed up by the government covid payments & given up the work.

They are currently in the process of training up more staff... but if you know anyone who wants a weekly 4 hour casual shift, then contact the sma as plenty of jobs available.
