Port will make the 8.

Yeah, looking at their fixture, they could get to 12 wins quite easily which may be enough to squeeze into 8th.

Richmond x2
Collingwood x2
Essendon x2
Geelong x2
Bulldogs
North
Melbourne
GWS
Freo

Freo, Melbourne, Geelong at KP will probably be losses, but the other 10 are very winnable.

No fussed about that. They won’t win the spoon this year so I prefer port finishing mid table

I'd be happy if Port finish above us this year.

Neither team will make the finals so I'd rather walk away with a better draft pick.

They will drink their own bathwater and drop an easy one at some stage.

Unless they show they can beat Freo and Melbourne then they are only making up the numbers. If its like last year how 11 wins was enough for 7th and 8th place. Personally, I dont think they can do it. The only reason they won tonight was because St Kilda kicked 2.15 after quarter time. Until they can put in 4 quarter performances that push the best teams, they are a long way behind. I give them no credit for winning tonight, none whatsover. St Kilda's poor kicking gifted it to them.

LOL

There's a reason they lost their first five games.

So far they've only beaten West Coast who currently are the worst team in the league and you can't really read anything into tonight's game because of the conditions.

I think they'll win between 8-10 games this year.

Make up the numbers, and trigger Ken's auto extension for 2024/5.

Just like in 2020. Make the Eight to trigger 2022/23 extension. No reason he doesn't have this clause again.

Article from 2019. Made Finals 2020, extension announced Jan 2020

I think they kicked that goal very early in the 2nd quarter so they kicked 1.15 for nearly 3 quarters. That might have cost them a top 4 finish selling their game there which they also did for the game in China, their supporters aren't happy.

Dixon back soon, draw opens up and they had players affected by COVID just before the season.

Flat tracking to 12 wins is possible.

Possible but I think they will fall one to two games short. Teams that can't score easily struggle. To have so many goaless quarters tells you something and tonight probably suited them.

tonights “win” for the powa is just perfect..

1) they really shouldve lost by 10 goals but the only reason they didnt is because their opponents couldn't kick straight. which all just proves they are still garbage.

2) another win is another nail pulled out of the Ken coffin.

3) ultimately we want them to finish above us on the ladder. neither side is contending this year. really, to just sneak into the 8 and fall in the first week of the finals would be best for the “Ken longevity” factor.

i dont care about loses and ladder position for us. I care about improvement and effort. thats the worst thing about todays loss.. the effort was utterly deplorable.

4) did I mention Ken getting a reprieve?.. long live Ken!..

It's only taken a day, but I hate footy again.

St Kilda though, there's something funny about a club losing games at the death that they'd have likely won if they played at home.

Just didn't have to be tonight.

Correct

This game if played at the Dome, the Saints smash them back to China.

They still have Richmond and Geelong to play twice and Melbourne (A).

Richmond play Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn, West Coast and Port Adelaide twice. Richmond are going to make the 8 based on that draw.

Port might sneak into the 8 but I highly doubt it as they have no wriggle room at all. Who are they going to toss out?

They don’t play Collingwood twice but you forgot Gold Coast and Sydney.

There are about 8 wins left they will flat track

Then 2 unexpected wins, maybe Geelong in Kardinia Park.

Really no different to 2020/21. Flat track on bad teams and jag one or two wins against good sides.

Showdown Round 23 could be renamed the Ken Extension Cup.

They will get their mojo back soon. I think a big reason for their early malaise is quite a few players getting COVID in Feb.

I am not saying they will do it easily. Just scrape in. They won't win a Final. Making the eight is enough for Ken to earn his extension for 24/25

Why were Port and Saints playing in Cairns? Geographically both light years away from Cairns. Would you not choose one of Brisbane, Sydney GWS to play there instead. I didn't watch the game but I can only assume Saints would've won if at their home.

The Saints sold a home game much like why we played there last year. I did tip Port though, more of a gut feeling than logic, but the Saints don't win home games they sell dating back when they played at Tassie in the mid-00s. It's a way for them to make money but they are sacrificing wins in doing so as the Cairns conditions make every game up there 50-50 regardless of where the teams are sitting.

At Marvel, the Saints win comfortably and sit pretty at 6-1 eyeing off a top 4 finish. They will still make finals but this is the sort of loss that pisses away a double chance.

Not footy but worthy to be celebrated here.
On this day 2016. One of the best sporting events I’ve been at.

Controversial, but that day was the best day I've ever had at AO. Better than the 2017 prelim.

I've never heard a noise quite like the one when Pablo Sanchez scored the sealer
