Unlucky finish. A few brutal non calls on Plowman cost Carlton the lead, and once they gave it up it was all over.

Still, Carlton are 2-20 in the last season’s worth of games, and they very very nearly handed the Pies an embarrassing loss. This is not the season to melt over close wins I don’t think.

Appalling umpiring, but Collingwood dominated that last quarter, save for a brief patch where the Blues got those three goals. A win is a win.

Want the same from us tonight. Imagine if we get that sort of free kick count our way though? This site will break that’s for sure. An atomic meltdown to put it mildly [emoji23]

Collingwood deserved to win. I believe the i50 count was 26-5 in the fourth quarter. Umpiring that poor just takes the shine off it. I hate how backmen are treated in this league, have absolutely no chance.

Oh absolutely, fully agree. That non call on Plowman (I think it was) was disgraceful 😡
But then also look at how certain forwards get treated also (the Bearded God)! It is a joke.

This has always been my view as well, remove as many interpretive decisions as possible.

I'd be happy with deliberate out of bounds, rushed behinds and incorrect disposal all being cast aside entirely if it meant we could finally see consistent officiating in matches.

Yep, and get rid of this touched ball nonsense. If the ball goes through the big sticks it's a goal, regardless if it's off the post or touched, as in soccer. No more endless replays on the big screen to see if the ball grazed someone's little finger or the post.
Simplify the game.
Throws are rarely penalized, nor incorrect disposal, so just allow the throw and be done with it.

GC last week and play Melbourne next week. Need to capitalise.

Also lol at Freo’s revamped highly touted forwardline.

In the space of 60 seconds, Hibberd may have done his collar bone, Viney may be on report and Melbourne go inside 50 five on two and don’t score.

Could be big for next week.
Viney is such a dirty sniper. Absolutely sniped Hurn as a square up. Has simply thrown an elbow in this contest.

Tribunal will happily let another favourite son off this week with the Gary Ablett precedent in place.

This league is becoming a real laughing stock with the way it is run.

Just looking at that quickly Viney has to get min.3 weeks

Melbourne look really good when they go direct and through the corridor. No idea why they’re desperate to play this high volume, short possession game when it’s not at all what they do well.

They do get back in absolute numbers though - next week is going to be a classic defensive slog with JK dealing with three at all times.

Reckon next week Melbourne will rock up with Ports dirty ground ball plan v us.

Absolutely. They came in today like they could just bully some kids, and when GC have taken it up to them they’ve gone the biff.

Next week they’ll come in with an attitude of not letting us play and going from there. More power to them, we need to be prepared with a counter.

So true. But substitute big Vic club for “Preseason Vic Premiership Contenders” 😀 They are no way big. Generations of supporters who saw a powerhouse have sadly departed. Their descendants are in various states of apathy. But as we saw in the finals last year, they do have supporters out there...
