Surely they can’t go back in and alter the result for something like that? It’s undeniable that it should have been given and undeniable that it would have resulted in a goal, but if they go down that road what could happen with a massively blown HTB in the square in the dying seconds.

I think this will be a can of worms the AFL won’t want to open, just rule a line under a bad call and punish the umpires in some way.

I don’t think they have grounds to appeal.
Very lucky Sydney in the end, like Anzac Day, the Bombers inefficiency cost them.

In all honesty I wouldn't be mad if Essendon were awarded a win. That's unforgivable from Rampe and should be punished with the win being retracted.

The penalty for the infringement is a free from the goal line, which Miers could conceivably have missed. The AFL can't go and adjust Essendon's score.
