It’s pretty grim reading albeit the last 3 years look promising. Will also point out that they were unfortunate to have 3x top 10 picks in 2020 which has proven to be the worst draft this century

Their senior players, aside from Merrett (who comes with his own issues), aren’t great

Do the AFL want to have Essendon limp into the Tasmania introduction period before waiting for them to become as diabolically bad as we where to offer help or be proactive and look at a package this year

I’m inclined to say **** ‘em because it’s Essendon and with their coterie groups and ex players continually undermining them they deserve what they get - but the competition is compromised when there’s uncompetitive teams. They were too slow to act with us and should learn from that

Footballers do seem to take the dumbest of options a hell of a lot, especially those in shit sides.

Look at the North player handballing into Xerri's head in the backline a foot away whilst he's on his knees, for instance, when on the other side of him a bloke was 2 metres away completely unopposed and could've just 50m up the wing.

These early draft picks are horrendous reading. Early to say but do agree they nailed the last 3 years but Kako obviously not due to a stroke of genius and burnt pick 31 to take a player that would have been available at their next pick anyway.
