True, and we all know how much the AFL like good news stories, but Gawn did make the AFL team of the week too (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-06-23/team-of-the-week-round-12).

I didn't see the game so can't comment as to how well Gawn played. Just think he might be a little more competitive. Would prefer to play him than Jamar, he always smashed NN at each contest which took its toll.

Melbourne are a strange team at present. Lose games they can/should win but pull a win out of their arse from time to time. Not sure how we're gonna go in the Darwin conditions. I don't think we've played a home and away match up there before. I'm backing us to win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Melbourne take the points.

Correct, would be our first ever match in Darwin that was for premiership points. We've played pre-season games up there before.

On the other hand we've been consistently thrashing teams in the lower reaches of the ladder for two years now. We will probably account for Melbourne ok, especially with both teams coming off the bye (and our off the bye record being quite good).
 
Daniel Kerr just have a very candid interview on the footy show. Went for about 20min.

Quite interesting to be honest, especially his thoughts on criminals and potentially going down that path.

Kerr seems to just be massively in denial, had the cocky swagger, blamed alcohol.

I thought it was interesting, and I like that at least he didn't give the cliche answer to everything and just tell Lyon what he wanted to hear.
But it's concerning that he really doesn't seem to have learnt much, and I fear he will go the way of Cousins...

I was just about to say.. you can hear the immaturity in the way he speaks.

It's awfully sad, but at the same time he has done it to himself. He's had way too many chances and every single time he has failed to pull his head in and get on with life.
 
Its funny they never talk about the WA clubs ever but when its possible negative press they do a 30 minute interview. It didn't really shed any light on anything we didn't already know.
 
Jeez, the Kerr interview sounds like a train-wreck...

The one thing I'll say about that interview is at least Kerr didn't go in with a rehearsed set of answers. Unfortunately he doesn't seem light enough on his feet to roll that way. Nothing rehearsed could have been that much of a train wreck - he got next to nothing across about what his charity/organisation is about, threw Woosha under a bus and very much came across as in denial about his alcohol problem, let alone any drug problems he had/has.

I don't think I'm that much of a stick in the mud. Many people can use drugs recreationally and not get into trouble. Being arrested for threatening to set people on fire is not "a little bit of trouble". Hopefully his new role with that indigenous organisation can help him long term. The cynic in me suggests it might just be an option taken to help his standing in front of the judge. He knocked it back plenty of times previously by the sounds of it.

A bit pissed off about it really.

Maybe it's the optimist in me, but imo a large part of the smiles/smirks etc could possibly be put down to his nerves... would be pretty hard speaking like that in front of a large audience and Lyon put him on the spot a few times.
 
God dammit Wayne, at least try to sound apologetic or remorseful. He talks like he's telling his mates at the pub how he's just kicked a bag in the local footy.

He has more Swag than Yeo after he has just broken 3 lines, fended off his teammate Priddis in the face and then kicked a sausage on his non preferred.
 
We had some really good footballers that made some really bad life decisions. I'll remember them for what they did on the footy field and wish them all the best in their attempts to get their shot together away from football.

The club didn't handle that group well and learnt a lot of lessons in terms of fostering a strong culture, mistakes that other clubs watching on probably learned from as well

Would I give back the flag we won if it meant these guys were "normal", probably not and I doubt they would either tbh. Ultimately a football club and their supporters aren't babysitters and these are grown men who are responsible for their own decisions so don't know why we as supporters should feel embarrassed or guilty for their actions

I'll still watch footage of that era and marvel at their skills
