So the small chance we had of top 2 (current form we were no chance anyway) is now gone. Cats will end up on 17 wins. We're bound to drop at least 1 of GWS, Hawks or crows. I reckon if we can get 16 wins, so 1 more loss for the year, we'll get top 4. All the sides around us have some tricky games left and will likely drop at least 1, maybe 2 so we're still a chance for top 4. We'd wanna pull our finger out though and start playing like we actually give a shit about this season. I guess in the end, probably can't make it with an away QF or PF anyway.

All this Top 4 talk, I'm just happy to be in the 8 on current form. I really don't see us making it to Prelims this year unless something miraculous happens. Straight sets final losses may actually do some good in regards to the teams poor work rate. I'm convinced they think it's just going to happen, despite the last few weeks of media pieces talking about "work to be done". Too late IMO.

In saying that though. I'd be rather surprised and chuffed if they come out of nowhere to shake up finals. Would be just as entertaining as a GF appearance to see some finals favourites be knocked about by the "flat trackers".

Even if Geelong lost tonight, look at Sydney and Adelaide's remaining fixtures. Cant see either of them losing another game until finals. 2nd, 3rd and 4th will finish on the same amount of wins.

TBH the only way we finish top 4 is if we beat one of adelaide or GWS and to be fair it likely has to be Adelaide. If we win the games we should (including the hawks game), then even if we lose to GWS our last game of the year is likely for fourth position on the ladder.

How. I dont see any way we could possibly make up the percentage difference between us and the crows after they play essendon and brisbane at home in the next 2 weeks.

Lose the first final and its goodnight Irene!! However if we win, then to make the GF we would have to do it the hard way. Remember 2006 we lost the first final to Sydney at Subi, but got the second chance due to finishing in the top 4. But had to do it the hard way by having to play every weekend to make the GF. However unless the boys form improves, don't think they will be giving too much cheek come finals time. They don't appear to have got out of second gear all year.

Watching the Cat-dog fight last night we are not up to it this years. The physical intensity is beyond too many of out players.

GWS have GC in QLD, us and Roos in Melbourne, as the only games that might trouble them. Swans have freo over here, port at home, and saints and Roos at Etihad. They could lose a few of those. Crows have the showdown, and freo over here, and us at AO. Again, the way this year's gone, they could drop one of those, maybe 2, you never know.

Of course that all means nothing unless we actually start playing with some desire to compete and do the hard stuff, which I'm not confident we will.
