A lot of people believe that they get special treatment from the NBA. For example, their blatant use of moving screens to open up their 3 point game, and the way that Draymond Green continually gets away with dirty plays and taunting that other players do not.
Draymond Green is probably the most maligned player in the NBA at the moment and has, by himself, pushed a lot of neutral supporters to jump on the Thunder and now the Cavs bandwagon in the playoffs. Bogut is also considered one of the dirtiest players in the league.
Curry rubs a lot of people the wrong way with his cockiness. I'm all for a bit of swagger but do you really need to celebrate and point to the heavens on every three pointer you hit?

Cavs have their own dirty Aussie in Dellevadova, so they aren't exactly angels themselves. As for cockiness? Well Lebron says it all

The Warriors are still the lesser of two evils for mine, although the gap is closing.

As for the actual city of Cleveland, well their tourism videos say it all :P

He does it with every shot he makes. Even free throws. I think it's more because he's incredibly religious rather than out of any sort of arrogance.

I know right? The Supersonics moved to Oklahoma and became the Thunder. The days of the Payton to Kemp alley-oop are long gone :(

Since we are ripping off band aids, lets do this in one big hit for you:
-Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis, no one cares
-The current Charlotte Hornets aren't the original team there.
-The original Hornets moved to New Orleans and still operated as the Hornets
-Charlotte started a new team called the Bobcats in the mean time, they sucked just like the first team did
-New Orleans rebranded themselves as the Pelicans, and scared children everywhere with their choice of mascot

-Charlotte changed their name from the Bobcats back to the Hornets to become Charlotte 2.0, they still pretty much suck

Informative. Thanks.
Now completely lost to the NBA but at a time of collecting basketball cards and hitting the court every recess and lunch, we'd have known the majority of the league, even the spuds.
Fav player was Clyde Drexler. Still have his Houston championship winning game on vhs somewhere. Are portland still the trailblazers?

I still have a file of basketball cards in the closet. I was all over Latrell Sprewell, Jamal Mashburn, Shawn Kemp...flashy types were my go. I believe I even have a couple of Pooh Richardson cards left!

Harsh saying the new Charlotte Hornets sucks.

-The Clippers still exist, they recently unveiled Chuck the Condor as their mascot

Not even HoneyBadger35 can justify that about his beloved Clippers

-The Magic still exist and have been pretty much irrelevant since Penny/Shaq left bar a few good years with Dwight Howard.
-The Raptors still exist and are Canada's only hope now in the NBA. They are the second best team in the East, but the East is a wasteland of crap teams so it's not as big an achievement as it sounds.

What was that you said? Play NBA Jam to relive the 90's?

You're welcome ;)
Booooo get stuffed, best mascot in the league. Mascots are supposed to be dumb and goofy, exactly what it is, people just hating because the clippers haven't been a punchline for a while lately. Far better than whatever the hell the Magic have, and the Wiz. Making it a condor is pretty dumb but if that's what they're going to go with then I reckon they nailed it.

Imagine they unveiled something like the Heat or Magic's mascot, now THEN they would have been panned.

Super Nintendo version is where it's at. 64 was good for mario kart and 007 though.
I had the Mega Drive version of Tournament Edition, but mine had an issue where it wouldn't save the game so I had to start from scratch every time.

Also while we're turning this board into a far more interesting NBA board, people with a spare 45 should watch Mr Russell's House, documentary/interview with Bill Russell about his career, civil rights, race, all sorts of things. Incredibly fascinating, massively eye opening how brave it was for some people to try to do something as inoffensive as play a sport because of their skin colour.

He was the first ever African-American head coach as well wasn't he? Caused a stir when it happened

Most things he did caused a stir, he was playing in a time when he couldn't eat at restaurants with half of his teammates because they were white. 11 time Champion, 5 time MVP, averaged over 22 boards per game, would have shattered any blocks record but blocks weren't officially recorded at the time. First black coach. Won the medal of freedom in 2011, highest honour an American citizen can get. MLK wanted him on stage for the 'I have a dream' speech.

Just a really well spoken, intelligent guy who had more impact on society than most athletes ever will. Great doco (even if it's hosted by Bill Simmons who is a germ)

Sadly, you could literally not be more wrong.

This is not a joke

Sounds good I'll check this out. I watched Unforgiveable blackness not too long ago, similar themes about Jack Johnson, great doco.....trying to keep this thread on track with boxing now ha. I've watched most of those ESPN 30/30s the basketball ones are quite good Laettner/bad boys/Miller v Knicks/college big 3

As someone that doesn't follow Basketball that much, what happened to Jeremy Lin ?
Gone from the peak frenzy in his New York Linsanity days, to overrated nothing PG with the Rockets and Lakers, now landed in Charlotte where he was a massive part in more than a few of their big wins. Probably will never be a starter, even on a poor team, but offers plenty as a backup PG, which is more of a vital role than the casual observer might think.

Non basketball fans tend to undervalue the importance of the bench structure, and people tend to assume that bench = worse player, which isn't always the case. Somtimes good to have your third or fourth best guy come off the bench to steady that unit if you've got no depth for example.

30 for 30 is so class. Haven't seen the Laettner one, but the Bad Boys one is absolutely awesome. Laettner just got a coaching gig in the D-League I think, would be interesting to see if he could make it back to the NBA.

Yeah enjoyed the bad boys one. Great team. Laettner one is good, focuses on all the hate for him haha
