Dogs losing the Collingwood game and us winning the Hawks game at home and either the GWS or Crows game away was our only realistic chance of finishing 6th above the Dogs and thus hosting a EF final. Dogs have Freo and Essendon left so they will win both. Now unless we win all three games we will finish 7th or 8th.

Could go either way, Etihad is their home ground but West Coast have a huge Melbourne supporter base, so they might have the game at the MCG.

Reckon it depends who else gets home finals. If gws sydney and crows finish 1 and 2 and 5 i reckon theyd be at the g for sure

Yep, dogs are bigger flat trackers than we are.

With possibly 2 of the first week finals will be interstate, I reckon the other 2 will most definitely be at the G. Finals at Etihad just seem wrong.

I seem to remember the AFL already granting permission for GWS to host finals at their > 30,000 seat stadium. Clubs will point to that as reason not to move games, home grand advantage will be big this year.

Considering the injuries they've had it's quite understandable, moreso than us.

A small small positive in finishing 7th is we get a middle 6 draw next year. I shake my head in envy at the powderpuff draw geelong got this year from finishing in this range last season. They should be a game clear on top but lost to the pies and blues. Double ups against essendon and brissy too!!

Our draw hasn't been that bad. We've lost the games we all expected to lose. Had we not choked against Adelaide and Collingwood we'd be right in it.

I thought we would play the Dogs at the G since Adelaide did last year. Or was that only because none of the QFs were in Melbourne? It should be at the G anyway because all games are played on separate days this year.
