Who is the last great WA midfielder? Is it Fyfe? Who's been AA level since?

Since Black & Cousins WA haven't produced a "Great" midfielder.
As far as top tier we have guys who have peaked for at a season or two otherwise the cupboard is bare.
Over the last 10 years Fyfe 3-4 seasons, Cripps 1-3 seasons, Coniglio 2-3 Seasons, Yeo 2-3 seasons.

Is the WA talent pathway system broken? This year has been very disappointing and we constantly fail to provide guys at the pointy end of the draft.

Not exactly great play from Brisbane either to have a 3-on-5 in the goalsquare (and Mathieson arrived pretty late to the contest) when you are in the position they were in. Very lucky the ball fell straight to Daniher.

There were a lot of brain explosions in the last 10 minutes, especially when you consider for 3.5 quarters that was as good a contest as we've seen in years.

Outside of the great goals am I the only one who hated the game. No defensive accountability (outside of Starcevich), Brisbane's ruck situation being ruined followed by a bit of a balance up with prestia going down and just turnover by turnover both ways.

Fair call that the defensive side of the game was lacking a bit but I'd suggest you're in the minority. I found it great to just see something that resembles the 90's running footy that I grew up on. Don't get to see it too often these days, especially in finals footy.

Everyone has their preferences though. I've found myself struggling to watch much neutral footy these days and the main reason (amongst quite a few) is the game style is just too grinding for my taste.
