Leo Lombard #2 New
  • Lombard had some standout moments where he flashed his talent. An fantastic athlete with lovely balance and an intense competitor, it was no surprise that when the Academy came back into the game in the second half he was heavily involved.

    Levi Ashcroft #1 New
  • A fiery encounter in which Ashcroft faced a lot of close checking and off the ball attention from his opponents, including one incident in the third quarter that saw him leave the ground in the hands of the medical staff. He fought through it to play a solid game for his Dragons team and help them to a big win.

    Levi Ashcroft #2 New
  • With the shackles unleashed this week Levi showed us what we'd been expecting to see from him this season. Hard running, prolific ball winning and an attacking mindset focused on driving the ball forward for his team.

    Levi Ashcroft #3 New
  • The high possession winner on the day for the Academy team. Ashcroft split his time between midfield and half forward and provided a critical avenue for moving the footy through one two's and possession chains.

    Levi Ashcroft #4 New
  • Levi won the possession count again for the Academy in game two and was named best on ground for his performance. Matched up against the mature Footscray mids he was tough and strong in both the stoppages and general contested situations around the ground showing that he's more than just an outside accumulator.

    Lucas Camporeale #1 New
  • A solid game from Lucas who played wing all game and worked tirelessly to position himself for release kicks and overlap run. Unfortunately his kicking accuracy let him down at times.

    Luke Trainor #1 New
  • An interesting watch. Trainor picks up a smaller forward, then largely ignores them in general play. He zones off to intercept and rebound. He pushes way up the field, almost playing as an extra midfielder at times, setting up as a defensive sweeper at stoppages on the wing.

    Luke Trainor #3 New
  • Filling in some of the back catalogue.

Trainor had a fantastic opening game to the Talent League season and put all draft watchers on notice. His kicking skills were a particular feature here, direct, attacking and precise.

    Luke Trainor #4 New
  • Another strong performance from Trainor in the second of the Academy games although not quite at the BOG standard of game 1. He and his defensive cohort struggled at times with the size and marking power of the Footscray forwards, and his normally strong disposal was at times a little wayward.

    Luke Urquhart #1 New
  • Tracking a potential draft bolter from WA thanks to Futbolista . Luke Urquhart is a 190cm mid/forward with an exciting skill set. Ability to find the footy inside and outside the contest, tough tackling and serious hurt factor with his possessions. A long penetrating kick from a lovely fluid action which allows him to set up teammates and hit the scoreboard.

    Murphy Reid #1 New
  • A strong, near BOG performance from Murphy Reid in the season opener. Splitting his time between midfield and wing his combination of endurance, agility and foot skills were on prominent display.

    Sam Lalor #1 New
  • This was Sam's first game back after injury cost him the start of the season. He spent a lot of time on the bench, possibly on managed minutes, but he was involved enough to show his class and physicality. Lalor will certainly be one to watch as the season progresses.

    Taj Hotton #1 New
  • Unfortunate internet outage over the weekend has set me back a bit.

The traditional rivalry between the Dragons and Chargers resulted in a big win for Sandy, and Taj Hotton was instrumental in the victory with a BOG performance. He didn't stop working all game, was clean with the ball, strong overhead and topped it off by hitting the scoreboard.

    Taj Hotton #4 New
  • Hotton's first game of the season was a sign of things to come. His competitiveness and excellent athletic attributes were on display here, the only thing that let him down was his accuracy in front of goal.

    Tom Gross #2 New
  • A look back at the first game of 2024 for the super consistent Tom Gross. In a game in which his team was largely beaten at stoppage and in contests around the ground, Gross was one of the few that put in a strong and consistent performance across the four quarters.

    Tyler Welsh #1 New
  • Its difficult for key forwards to shine in these games given the lack of prep time to set up structures etc, but Tyler presented well all game and took some nice grabs for his team.

    Xavier Lindsay #1 New
  • Debuting for the season in round 2 of the Talent League, Lindsay turned in a complete midfield performance to help his team to victory on the day. Winning the ball inside and outside the contest, spreading with hard running, driving the ball forward and hitting the scoreboard.

    Zak Johnson #1 New
  • After spending last season playing forward flank and wing for the Knights, this year Zak Johnson is Northern's prime mover in the midfield. A silky smooth operator with plenty of class with ball in hand, it wouldnt be surprising to see Johnson pushing into top 10 calculations as the season progresses.
