Can you tell a (married) female friend she's attractive without her getting the wrong idea? Or should you not bring up the topic of attractiveness with friends of the opposite sex?

Depends I guess SB on the woman in question. If she is the type to take the compliment in the way its intended (and I guess its intended just that way, a compliment) and realises there is nothing more to it, fine.

However there are probably no doubt some women who might feel this inappropriate for whatever reasons they have, faithfulness to husbands, not finding YOU attractive in return, stuck up ******s!

I often greet some friends wives with the standard "hi beautiful, ready to leave *insert name of said husband here* yet for me"? Some friends wives I greet with "hello" and physically while they are very VERY attractive I either know them to well about what's 'inside' to consider that or know they are the types that wouldn't appreciate me saying anything more than 'hello'.

Okay, my response is a little off the topic, but still in the same sort of area....

My boyfriend's brother wanted to get a back massage, and one of his mate girlfriends is an massuer (sp?), but he thinks that's a bit funky/wierd to go to her. I've been to her and she's excellent, but he's still a bit worried.

My bf said he'd feel wierd going there too, and I told them they were both being stupid. If their mate didn't have a prob with it, why should they. But then my bf said about one of our other mates who's gf is a stripper, and that he wouldn't go and watch her because it would be uncomfortable.

Trying to argue that that is a totally different situation, and failing miserably, I went back to the defence that I had a 'full body massage' from the massuer friend (gee I really should have made up names for these people). But he said that's different because I'm a girl! So I said that me going to the stripper friend and getting a lap dance would be okay then because I'm a girl.... my point was lost on him, but the expression on his face was quite funny.

So in the end, after that long explanation.... it really depends on the guy and his wife. It could be uncomfortable, and question... why exactly do you feel the need to tell her?

Maybe one night if you guys are going out for dinner or something you could pass the comment that she looks nice, and then if you get a wierd look, back it up with, "have you styled your hair differently?" or something along those lines.... if you REALLY need to let her know.

On second thoughts I'm staying right out of this one.;)

Why do you feel it necessary to tell her Sbagman? Chances are she already knows it, you dont want to cause problems.

Depends on how you do it. Married or single, you get nowhere saying "Hi. Yer Hot!" On the other hand, genuinely complimenting a woman is never a bad idea.

But that's just where I'm from. I don't know if it's such a good idea in Firenze, Sbags. Those Italian guys get a little green. Makes the hair stand up on their shoulders and back.

Well I'm not using it as a conversation-starter. Just happened to slipped it into conversation with a female friend, and now I'm regretting it. Anyway. I'm not scared of these Florentines. I'm pretty convinced I can compete on the back hair stakes. ;)
