Story in the Herald Sun today about an 11 year old kid who didn't want his signed Collingwood jumper "cut" off him, despite basically having his leg shattered when he was hit by a car.

AFL players may think they put pride in their jumper, but few could match the level of sacrifice Zachary Stephens was prepared to make for his Collingwood guernsey. The 11-year-old almost lost his leg when he was hit by a car last Monday, but the tough little fella was refusing to let ambulance officers cut through his beloved autographed Pies jumper to treat him at the scene.

And I love to see Collingwood reacted quickly;

After being told of Zachary's dedication, the Collingwood Football Club and star Alan Didak came to the rescue on Tuesday, giving the brave youngster a new guernsey with a personalised get well message to start his new signature collection.

Now that's the type of dedication I want to see over the next month or so from all of you.:p

All the best for your recovery Zachary.:thumbsu:

This kid is a hero to us all, these are the kinds of acts in life that will mentally push us to where we want to go.

If ever Collingwood WANTED to use some sort of external motivating factor, that kid should be it.

I just want you boys to know...There's a little crippled boy out there hoping you win today...I know this because I crippled myself him to inspire you.

Why did he have his jersey on his leg?
Just kidding, sounds like a real Pie's fan to me.
Waiting for a bus in Darling St Balmain yesterday when an empty bus went past with "Go Pies" on the destination board. I'm starting to have nightmares.

Poor kid, that's an amazing story though..
But also slightly humerous, because his leg is about to drop off and he is just saying not the jumper not the jumper.. I thought it was great and am very happy he will be ok..

My girlfriend is a nurse at Dandenong and this kid is one of her patients. Said he is an awesome kid, and just loves his footy team. He said his favorite player is Beams, and wanted him to kick a goal against Essendon. Beamer went one better and kicked 2 :thumbsu:

That's awesome, what a little trooper! So impressed with the club, always great to see that stuff.

Good on the little fella, hope he makes a full and quick recovery

Well done to the club too

The kid sounds like a little ripper. :D

And the Pies response makes it all that better.... :thumbsu:

And I think I've seen that "Go Pies" bus around Sydney town, too. Thought I was dreaming.

Lucky it wasnt the movie BASEketball and him wanting 3 from beamsy. :D:D

Would have been the same story for "that proud little boy"

Amazing story, poor kid.

I think the pies should all be told the story of this brave little boy, at one of their upcoming team meetings.

Then, if we make GF, in the prematch, the little boy could come hobbling in, kitted out in his beloved Pies guernsey, fighting back the tears of pride in his team, implore the boys to give it their all.

Could be a real lifter for the boys.

PS if his leg had substantially recovered, you could take him out the back, rough him up a bit before he comes in
