F**k me the bunker is useless. Didn’t make any real difference beyond the possibility of a sin bin for a professional foul because Rocco Berry scored the try anyway but Ford puts a kick in and chases, and the first Souths player drags him back albeit just a little bit and you would probably ignore it more often than not as it was a pretty regular bit of ‘jostling.’ But Isaiah Tass basically just tackles Ford from behind and never gets within a metre of the ball and Kasey Badger (I assume that’s who was in the bunker) simply says ‘he’s playing at the ball.’ It defies belief how they reach the conclusions they get to.

Refs making up rules to screw the Raiders against the chooks is becoming a pretty iconic combination tbh.

Except it’s not, is it. The call you’re referring to was the exact right call. Had they been awarded 6 again in that grand final it would have been the roosters being screwed.

All that happened was Canberra didn’t put up a Hail Mary kick because they didn’t hear the ref correct his call.

At any rate, this is the 10th game this year we’ve led at half time and the fifth we’ve managed to lose

Still trying to make the argument that 2 wrongs do, in fact, make a right 6 years later. You got the trophy man, you can quit embarrassing yourself trying to defend it.

You’ve made out like it cost them a title. It didnt. It cost them a kick at the end of a set. You’re literally whinging about a team not getting to put up a kick at the end of a set 6 years, as you said, after the end of their set of six. And you’re claiming someone else is embarrassing themselves. Pretty sure there were other factors in the roosters winning the title.

If he didn’t change his call the shoe is on the other foot, isn’t it. Because it would have been the incorrect decision. That Wighton didn’t hear him is unlucky, and it is rare for a referee to make one call and then change it back, but it is still correct.

Really loving what the Broncos are bringing this year.
Arf!

Manly sure have got talented young outside backs. Hopoate seldom fails to impress, looks the most talented of the family to me. And they were in the fortunate position whereby, if an attack did break down, not to worry, Brisbane would surely gift them possession back shortly in great field position. Hard to see what the malaise is with Brisbane; look at Cobbo, started the season on fire, now just looks a bit-part player. Could say similar for much of the squad.

Great effort by AJ, but of course he's nowhere near the second-highest try-scorer in the world, or whatever they said.
It may not be a well-known fact in Australia, but Billy Boston scored 478 tries for Wigan alone (not including tries for other teams and rep games) in 488 games. Now there's a record that will never be beaten.

And the old fella is going strong. Just about! :D Meanwhile, four games in a day is usually a bit much for me (didn't watch the Manly game till this afternoon, been down in London). but the last two were terrific contests, again, everything that's good about our sport. Moses and Brown showed what a good halves combination they are (as I was saying a few weeks back), and the contest between Moses and Cleary was great to watch; both on top of their game. But in the end, it was great defence by Penrith that won it. And Parra really did throw a lot at them. And then, it looked like it was going to be the same script in the Roosters game, with their excellent goal-line defence keeping out the Raiders, and enabling them to maintain an implausible lead. Until... :D

I'm really struggling with the idea of the Raiders, of all teams, being either the most dangerous, or the most attractive attacking sides. They have been 'bowling-shoe ugly' for so long! But sometimes, you have to let go of confirmation bias, and admit that yeah, they look pretty good, they have talented young outside backs.

Owen Pattie delivered one of the performances of the season yesterday IMO. The rookie bench hooker of all people.

That first half an hour or so we were so uncreative, so lacking in ideas, we'd had about 35 tackles in the chooks 20 by that stage and never looked like crossing the line. We were missing Starling, we were missing Fogarty, and their defence wasn't allowing our forwards any offloads.

Then Pattie came on, immediately sped the ruck play up into fast forward, caused a massive threat with his kicking, and changed the game with the flick of a switch. Outstanding performance.

Latrell is trolling me - got in the car at 30-12 and he’s done basically nothing. Within ten minutes it’s back to 30-24 and I’ve basically heard no name aside from his and AJs
Perfect description of him as a player. Nowhere and then suddenly everywhere.

Tell you what, I'd hate to coach him, would make you want to pull your hair out.

It was incredible timing. Like it’s not as though I watched the game scouring for him or anything, he made one short side play that could have led to a try but the warriors pushed the winger into touch but that aside I literally couldn’t remember him touching the ball aside from taking a conversion: then yeah, game is seemingly over, I hop in the car and the abc blokes are creaming themselves over a cut out, he sets up another one next set and he’s throwing over sideline kicks as well
