Well just a couple off the top of my head

Saturday a week ago when the Crows played their trial game they made the front page and yesterday's insightful article by Chris McDermott just to name a couple off the top of my head.

But you wouldn’t see the articles being bias as a Crows supporter as us Port supporters don't see Rucci's articles being bias so if you reversed roles then you would notice it. Some people will see this as a troll but I write this in all seriousness and that is why I don’t have much time for The Advertiser.
now is that a whole newspaper full of them?
and for you to say port supporters dont see rucci's articles as biased be prepared to be labelled a troll

I guess the same could be said when you say that the Advertiser isnt a pro Crow newspaper.

Not sure about Richard EArle, dont think Doug Robertsons a Crows man. Devlins definitely a Port sympathiser and think Capel prefers the Power to the Crows. Not sure about Partland either, but don't think he's got a lot of time for the Crows either.

I can't see from all this how the Advertiser's suddenly anti-Port anymore than it is anti-Crows.

Rucci's the main football writer - and his preferences (AFL, that is) are very well known.

To suggest the Advertiser is full of anti-Port stories is quite simply cr.p.

Today's paper is a great example. "This could be the start of something BIG". It's the pre season! Port would never get that. After we lost in our second finals series, we were ridiculed. The crows were praised for dropping out last year, and we were all apparantly "Very proud" of them.

You've got a very selective memory (hardly surprising).

So, there's never a positive Port story in the paper?

And Rucci (who almost writes more footy stories than the rest combined) never digs the knife into the Crows whenever he can?

Riiiight.

Obvious anti-Port bias? PAFC2004=NFI.

Re: Official BF Rooch Thread

Nobodys still been able to say there's anyone other than Rucci at the Advertiser who has a clear bias towards an Adelaide side .....

agree thats because there isnt. Its simply the old inferiority complex from a few that makes them think there is. Port are very lucky really because if they didnt have the media strangle hold they do, they'd be lucky to keep the slim 30% support they have atm.

imo thats not a relevant example
in 2002 you finnished minor premiers after in 01 going top 4 in the home and away, expectations were big, very big
after 05 99% of non crow supporters did not rate our coach or our list and many predicted a bottom 4 finnish for us and plenty of threads on this site back that up
so in 04 we did better than we were suppose to, so the season was a forward moving one
you in 02 did not live up to your expectation after the 02 minor premiership and copped flak as a result

Are all Port Power supporters as stupid as Rory and PAFC2004?

I ask for examples of 'extremely anti port' articles and all they give me are articles about the Crows which have absolutely nothing to do with Port Power.

How can articles which have absolutely nothing to do with something be 'extremely anti' against it?

Re: Official BF Rooch Thread

In fairness, I reckon the 'tiser stuck it up Tredrea today, showing the Port players all waiting to have a team photo session taken, with the feature of it being Warren Tredrea with his face contorted and partially buried in his hands, with a caption stating that Tredders appears to be feeling the pressure.

Absolute crap of course, as there appears to be a fair bit of mirth amogst those around him, which is obviously what Tredders was re-acting to.

A good example of the lack of class and fairness by the 'tiser - it's a B class rag.

Agree the Tiser is cr.p - but anyone with half a brain would realise that Tredrea pic and caption was tongue in cheek and not supposed to be taken literally.

If anyone took offense to that, they seriously need to get a life.

Re: Official BF Rooch Thread

Well, rather than continue this mindless debate with everyone guessing, I spent 30 cents today to ring The Advertiser. The lady at the sports reception desk said the colours on each writer's desk are:
Rucci - Power
Capel - Bomber
Robertson - Crows (and South Adelaide)
Partland - Hawks (and definitely not Port)
Earle - Crows
Devlin - Bombers

So, 32 per cent Crows, 32 per cent Bombers and 16 per cent Power.

Rather than continue this guessing game in a mindless debate, I decided to ring the Tiser today thinking the 30 cents would be well spent. The lady at the reception desk said the colours on each desk in the place are:

Rucci - Power
Capel - Bombers
Devlin - Bombers
Partland - Hawks (and not Port at any time it seems)
Robertson - Crows
Milbank - Crows
Earle - Crows

Seems the Crows have it. Now if we could get rid of one of them, it would be no Port at all.

Short memory I see, after last years pre-season showdown. Adelaide was crap according to Rucci and also labelled them as a cheap and poor imitation of Port and Port were the real deal on their way to another flag.

Don't forget the 'can't handle the truth' article after our Round 1 game.

It seems this year Rucci is 'handling the truth' by not talking about it.

BTW PAFC2004, notice that the articles we Crows supporters use as examples are articles written about our team and not articles written completely about Port Power that we somehow interpret as being 'extremely anti' Crows.

McDermott & Rucci.

Someone better clear a place on the mantle for the Pulitzer (or is it a Walkley)

Re: Official BF Rooch Thread

Not a go at Rucci here, but at Doug Robertson who wrote an article in today's 'tiser on Port's trial game today.

He referred to a brace of rookie defenders facing a baptism of fire, led by Carlisle, Pettigrew, Chaplin and Symes.

A brace of players is two players - a brace means two.

So how do you fit 4 into two??

Then again, if you look on the back page of the 'tiser at the picture of the 4 Port players skipping along holding hands, then you might be able to work out how that might happen. :D :D

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :p

Perhaps he meant to say "double brace" then 2 x 2 = 4 (for those mathematically challenged and Port supporters :D )

Judging by the photo, 4 Port players are more like a bracelet.

Either that or it is 2 - Pettigrew Fitzcarlilse and Symes Fitzchaplin :D

If that's the level of problems at the Advertiser, we've got nothing to worry about. I mean, honestly, who gives a sh.t??? The (non-pedantic) readers knew what he meant.
How about Rucci's effort the other day when he used the term "hubris" about five times??? Now, how many average Joes really know the meaning of "hubris" (without looking it up in a dictionary).
