Re: Cameron White

Not in this test series- you've got two proven Test bowlers in Warne and Magill...noting that you better bowl magill on a spin friendly pitch like OT...

No chance. He goes for about 35 a wicket in the domestic comp, what makes anyone think he wont get tonked playing tests? Macgill might be a chump with the bat but at least he's a wicket-taker. We already bat down to 8 or 9 anyway (at least in theory).

2 things for you to contemplate;

Warne had a similar average before he was picked for Australia.

MacGill averages around 30 in first class cricket. Aussie tend to play leggies better than others.

Re: Cameron White

concur, although he didn't bowl as much in 2004/5 as he did in 2003/4, he seems to have gone backwards as a leggie (although he is still effective on friendly pitches).

however he is really starting to come together as a middle low order batsman.

can't put together big scores, but he is consistent.

i think he might push for the all-rounders position in the team, batting just above or just under GIlchrist.

Whitey will break into the side as a batsman I reckon

No one cares what you think!

Re: Cameron White

he would if he was really really crap and came from NSW.

Re: Cameron White

White won't play international cricket. Worst. Victorian. Player. Ever.

Does anyone think that White may be better served (in terms of selection) by adding medium pace to his bowling in addition to his quickish legspin, similar to Colin Miller and/or Andy Symonds?

I think he should focus on bowling one good instead of 2 crap. I mean he is alright but doesnt really turn the ball much like someone said he is probably suite to one day games but in test cricket medium pace would be smashed around the park especially against some of the englishmen

Yeah, lets replace a decent legspinner with an mediocre one! While we're at it lets bring in Perren for Hayden and Richard Chee-Quee for Katich!

what ever happened to Chee Quee? [edit: already been asked ;)]

White's batting is not good enough to get him in as a specialist batsman, same with his bowling. If he could become an Andy Symonds type player, good batsman, handy bowler he will have a good one day career. But as for Tests, it looks doubtful.

Who thinks we should try this kid instead of Mcgill, he bats pretty well and bowls alright but will develop I say give him a chance and he will show that he could be australia's next captain

You can't bring him on for MacGill, his bowling is not good enough to be a specilaist bowler.

lmfao I know, Warne and Kaspa are already carrying two lemons. does it matter if McGill, stuart, lee or white take the other two spots?

Bring back McGrath...

Re: Cameron White

i think white will play for Austrlia in one dayers at some stage.

really not sure bout test cricket, could be a chance if Watson doesnt prove his worth.

Re: Cameron White

White's not the right bowler for Tests. He bowls to flat and rarely turns the ball.

More of a one day bowler when Hogg gets the flick.

Re: Cameron White

i think white is a good player on his day, but not an international leg spinner

as for watson i think he is one of the most overated players in World Cricket, and playing for Australia at the moment is a joke, get hiim out of there and get a proven all-rounder like Symonds or another batsman like Hussey. <<best technique any time

Re: Cameron White

White needs to model his bowling on Anil Kumble. Similar heights and styles, although White has more to his game. He needs to add some variation to his bowling. He will never be a big turner of the ball, but an effective googly and top-spinner would not go astray, as well as mixing up his pace and flight.

Once Gilchrist goes, I think White will not be far away. The side will miss having a frontline batsman coming in at 7, so this is where Whitey could fit into the test side.

He will walk into the ODI side soon enough, but I have little interest in that.
