We may have has 63% of the ball in the 2nd half but created nothing, never forced a save from their keeper. Apart from Scholesy's handball!

Other than the Nani goal, and the Rooney shot within the 10mins, we didn't look like scoring. Nani had a free header but directed it high.

Needed to take advantage of Arsenal's choke but they ended up gaining a point on us.

If our away form doesn't improve, Chelsea and Arsenal will smash us.

I will say many things when I wake up tomorrow like - "How is Johnny Evans a professional footballer?" "When did Ice Cube learn to play football?" and "How can a ref miss a blatant handball on Karl Henry?" but congratulations will not enter my thought process even though I acknowledge we played shit and several things need to be assessed for the run home.

Nope, I've got to agree with ABH here. Wolves had a job to do and they did it. We had a job to do and didn't. And we're supposed to be the ones with a team full of high-paid internationals going for trophies.

Still, better losing to them than to the likes of Arse or Chelsea. Hopefully it's the kick up the arse we've been needing, we've been getting away with playing badly away from home for far too long.

Agree that Wolves did what they had to do and good on them for that. However, thought the ref let them get away with far too much although that's nothing unusual for a Wolves match. O'Hara should've been sent off imo. Wasn't a penalty for the handball, far too close for it too be intentional.

Overall a shite performance and we have to be much much better against City who will probably be just as defensive as Wolves were.

Wolves were worthy winners

Sir Alex Ferguson was magnanimous in defeat after his side were left humbled by Premier League strugglers Wolves.

Despite taking a third-minute lead through Nani's clinical strike, the Reds rarely approached top gear as the tenacious hosts overturned their deficit and clung on for a deserved victory.

"We are disappointed, particularly after going in front so early in the game," Sir Alex told MUTV. "The result was caused by bad play at set-pieces. That is the nuts and bolts of it and we don’t dispute that.

"It was a great start. We made a lot of chances, particularly in the first-half. Nani had two great shots at the goalkeeper, Wayne Rooney had a good chance too, so we played a lot of good football in the first-half and made some great chances, but we were never at the races in the second-half. We had an incredible amount of possession. The pitch wasn't very good, but nevertheless we never really created anything."

The league leaders' cause was hindered by the late withdrawal of Rio Ferdinand, who suffered a calf injury during the warm-up and is now out of action for a fortnight. In his stead, Jonny Evans started, while Chris Smalling stepped up to the bench.

"Normally I think we would have put Chris Smalling in that position because he has been playing right side and Jonny has been playing left side, (but) Jonny had already done the warm-up. It was important because of the experience that Rio has in games like that."

The darkest day: 6 Feb 1958

February 6th will forever be circled on the calendars of everyone connected with Manchester United.

On that day in 1958, the darkest day in United's history, 23 people - including eight players and three members of the club's staff - suffered fatal injuries in the Munich air crash.

Flying back from a European Cup tie against Red Star Belgrade, the team plane stopped in Germany to refuel. The first two attempts to take off from Munich airport were aborted; following a third attempt, the plane crashed.

Twenty-one of the people on board died instantly. Aeroplane captain Kenneth Rayment died a few weeks later from the injuries he sustained while Duncan Edwards - one of the eight victims from the team - passed away 15 days after the crash. The tragedy is an indelible part of United's history, as is Sir Matt Busby overcoming his injuries to build another great team which won the European Cup 10 years later.

Roger Byrne (28), Eddie Colman (21), Mark Jones (24), David Pegg (22), Tommy Taylor (26), Geoff Bent (25), Liam Whelan (22) and Duncan Edwards (21) all died, along with club secretary Walter Crickmer, trainer Tom Curry and coach Bert Whalley.

Eight journalists died - Alf Clarke, Tom Jackson, Don Davies, George Fellows, Archie Ledbrook, Eric Thompson, Henry Rose, and Frank Swift who was a former Manchester City player. Plane captain Ken Rayment perished, as did Sir Matt's friend Willie Satinoff. Travel agent Bela Miklos and crew member Tom Cable also died.

We will never forget.

Almost the most important game of the season really as it will tell us a lot. How we respond to a shambolic effort, against one of our biggest rivals AND title rivals. We win, and it pushes us closer to the title, and City further away, we lose and it ignites the chasing pack i reckon.

Wolves in sheep's clothing

Thank God that's out of the way then. United are now defeated this season but that’s no reason to predict we’re about experience any kind of Old Testament horrors. A look at the league table shows all is well, but it is time to face a few home truths. Our results over the last month have been a lot more flattering than our team’s beauty.

Mick McCarthy has an beguiling pair of eyes, during the final ten minutes of this match it looked like they were frisking every single person in the stadium. It might possibly have been easier to smile but that is probably not his style.

The victory Wolves fashioned though, had the stamp of the Yorkshireman all over it. They worked incredibly hard, never let our players get near their box in peace and effectively punished the mistakes we did make. My red-tinted eyes tell me a draw would have been a fairer result but it would be harsh to do anything other than praise the victors.

It also gives us a chance to rethink some of the eulogies aimed at United’s direction in the last month. For all the trumpeting about team-spirit and never-say-die attitude there is an unhealthy chorus of ‘play a little bit rubbish for 30 minutes’ turning up in every fixture at the moment.

For now, we top the league and still our dastardly title rivals just can’t make us pay for our mistakes. It is important to remember, however, that mistakes are indeed being made. Essentially, Fergie’s management is papering over a few ever more obvious cracks.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record we are yet to replace Roy Keane. As we play with a more rotational passing system now it doesn’t matter 85-90% of the time, but when a few players are having a lousy day we don’t have anybody terrifying to scare them into action.

Vidic is a solid captain but his confidence is borne of keeping our goalmouth clear, a task made 6 billion times easier by having Rio Ferdinand stood next to him. He was too busy babysitting Johnny Evans on Saturday to drive the side forward. Alas, it was a free-kick he needlessly gave away that led to their winner too.

Criticism for criticism’s sake irks me immensely and whingeing about United now would be the equivalent of lying on silk sheets and complaining about the colour. The only thing that matters is whether or not this squad is good enough to bring home the 19th title. My gut instinct tells me that it is, but only just, and only if we don’t get found out by the bigger sides.
