now that wasn't called for either

I don't mind people having a go at united, comes with the territory... but do try to show some wit and imagination

Exactly..........

Maybe that has been posted somewhere on here before If so, I do apologise for not having read every post on every thread to discover it. I am more than happy with the posts taking the pi$$ out of Liverpool in the scousers thread, quite funny actually. And I am more than happy to return fire - all in good fun.

Again, sorry I hadn't seen that before. From now on I'll just head over to the Scousers thread for a chuckle and never post about Man U again for fear of hurting someone's feelings.

Rather boring game i thought. We didn't creat to many chances or play to well. Vidic was easly Best on ground, Tevez had a pretty good one I thought and Ronaldo was shocking.

Vidic was awesome but i thought Van Der Saar would have gone close to best on ground. He made some crucial saves and cut off lots of attacks.

Silvestre Ruled Out For The Season

Mikael Silvestre has been ruled out for pretty much the rest of this season with a cruciate ligament injury.

zoom - galleria The Frenchman had to be taken off in Saturday's 1-0 over Everton after catching his studs in the Goodison Park pitch and falling very awkwardly.

Scans carried out on Sunday have revealed that the defender had damaged a cruciate knee ligament, which means he is unlikely to return before the end of April.

This leaves Manchester United slightly short on cover in the defensive department, particularly given the departure of Gabriel Heinze.

It does mean, though, that young Gerard Pique could see more of the action in a senior team shirt, along with some of his junior team friends such as Jonny Evans, Danny Simpson and Phil Bardsley.

Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea are also injured at the moment.

Never good to see these injuries...

That sucks.

He was a very good defender, lost form/couldn't play with anyone but Rio and hasn't had a look in of recent.

This season the chances appeared to be more frequent and to his credit he's been prepared to stay with the team as back-up. And as higher quality back-up as you can realistically get.

He may not be Rio or Vidic but this is still a big blow. And for the whole season as well?

Not good news.

Bad luck for Silvestre. I'm sure he was looking forward to partaking in the 1-0 win (the new United way) over Chelsea next weekend.

Okay guys. Champions League time.

We have drawn AS Roma, Dynamo Kiev and Sporting Lisbon.

Obviously we have a few players who played in Portugal so playing them should be exciting. If Cristiano can handle the pressure of playing against his old side like he did playing in england after the world cup he should go alright.

We all know what happened last year (7-1 at Old Trafford, i just love saying it) against Roma. They will be looking for revenge this season against us.

Kiev could be a darkhorse. They were poor last year even though they had a tough group. (Real Madrid, Lyon, Steau Bucharest).

How do people think of european campaign wil fare this season??? Do we have the depth to challenge in both the league and in europe. Please discuss

Pretty stale performance, but a Ronaldo diving header gets the job done 1-0. VDS with a terrific save in the first half when Sporting were well on top. Ronnie's goal celebration was very classy too - seems like the Sporting fans still love him.

And for all the Brown h4t0rz, supplied a sumptuous cross for the goal.

He got a standing ovation from the fans. I think Ronaldo has slagged of Benfica in the past, so the Sporting fans wouldn't have forgotten that.

I'm sure Nip/Creed would have loved the final scoreline too.
