Strong lateness of reply! See you in a week.

I didnt see it till late. Have put money on it so I did put my money where my mouth is.

Quite simply if Lakers big men cant get it done they will lose atm didnt see them getting it done today. Not a major contender this year either IMO unless Gasol lifts in a major way

I was feeling alright after the Sixers narrow lost to them on NYE. Now I just feel shit again know we've lost to a team that can get thumped by the Grizzlies.

I have officially lost my shit.

Playing defence and still not getting it done. ****ing hacks.
What the **** was that second to last play?!?! Nash turns down an open layup with about 20 seconds left and instead we get that crap from Pietrus? Really? You don't want to get get the easy two and then foul? WHO THE **** DOES THAT!!!?! Then of course no shot the next play. Pathetic.

Surely the times come to start Barnes ahead of Artest. Im staggered as to whats taking so long to make this move

Also think times come to replace Derek Fisher. Hes clearly finished

The defense Julian Wright (no.14) plays in this sequence nicely sums up the Raptors.

Gets completely lost on the PnR, then doesn't get into a defensive stance so Rondo owns him, and then prances out at half pace to Pierce at the 3 to show token effort.

I would wager you havent watched anywhere near enough Raptors games to make that comment mdc.

You're disagreeing with them not playing hard enough or smart enough on defense? They're 4th last in the league on D for a reason.

Julian Wright is a terrific wing athlete, and on that play he looked like a 37-yo PF. You've said yourself DeRozan has been poor on that end despite all the athletic gifts in the world. Bargnani is the worst rebounding 7"er of all time. The list goes on.

Im disagreeing with the token effort call, and not playing hard enough. This team doesnt have talented defenders (although Wright has been very good the last 2 weeks and Davis is showing great signs), but they all hustle. Ive watched 90% of Raps games this year, and ive never seen them play this hard on defense.

Bargnani being out helps, as he is still a poor help defender (still above average post defender though). Amir, Davis and Dorsey help on everything - especially Davis. For a rook he has been amazing defensively, changes so many shots at the rim.

I would also dispute the Bargers rebounding call. Bargnani is someone who naturally defers to others - this has been well documented in his earlier years. With Bosh gone, he stepped it up offensively. When Reggie Evans got injured, he stepped it up with rebounds too. Averaging 6.3 boards over his last month - not great, but numbers that are on the Okur level (a similar jump shooting big). Not worst of all time.

How could I refuse?

They're not though. Okur averages 8.7 boards per-36, and his worst ever season was 7.8 per-36. Bargnani's career is 6.0 boards per-36 and 5.8 this season.

Or in other words, there's a bigger gap between Bargnani and Okur than there is between Okur and Shaq.

As for the defense stuff, I think you may have just gotten used to really shit D and are being encouraged by slightly better effort (Raps have improved from 30th to 27th in the league). In the wider scheme of things though, they're still incredibly soft. I freely admit I haven't watched a Raps game for a couple of weeks though, so maybe Davis & Wright really have improved you guys.

Im not concerned by Bargnani's career numbers, his game has changed so much in the last 2 years. He came into the league with the skill set of a shooting SF. He has a really solid post game now (has averaged 22.1 on the season with only 3.3 3pt attempts per game - a career low), and he takes the vast majority of his shots inside 15 feet.

Taking his game closer to the basket has picked up his rebounding rate. The stats might not show it, but there is a huge difference in how Bargers rebounds now compared to a few years ago. Before he got injured he had a stretch of 7 games where he averaged 7.5 boards. Not great numbers, but better.

If you have LP Premium, I highly recommend you watch the Raps v Dallas game from a couple of days ago. Davis has made a huge difference to our interior D, kid could be a serious defensive stud.
