Do we have even 1 person from our recent glory days at the club anymore apart from any current players?

Or have they all ****ed off? Speaks volumes to me.

Every chance we will be able to trade pick 1 for two very high picks plus an end of rd 1 pick this year the way things are looking.

1. Richmond bid on Walker, Blues match. Pick up our compo end of rd 1 pick, which along with our natural rd 2 pick is elevated due to Blues matching with picks prior.

2. Live trade pick 2 to Port for both their pick and the other pick they get for Butters(whether in a trade or as FA compo.)

3. Port picks the best player in the open draft.

4. Whoever finished 17th bids on Cochrane at 3, Port match with later picks, perhaps some of which are gained in the Butters trade, elevating both our end of rd 1 compo pick & our natural second round pick further, along with our 3rd rd pick.

5. Teams finishing 17th and 16th probably take the 2nd & 3rd best players in the open draft.

6. Richmond probably hits the draft about now, taking the 4th & 5th best players in the open draft.

7. Richmond adds two further picks around 20 as well as our natural rd 3 pick, which could be early 30's after bid matching.

What a time to win a wooden spoon. 🥄. 😎

We smash the back out of our 3rd draft in 3 years adding picks 1, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 12, 14, 20, 21, 21, 23, 28, 31, 33 in the process. 6 x top 10, and 12 x round 1 picks in 3 drafts & 3 early second rounders into the bargain, and what a bargain to get into. 😁
I do like this plan, I also think you may see one of Port or Carlton make a pretty eye opening offer to trade for Pick 1 to get ahead of the bid on their player. This way they themselves can put a bid on the other team's player, land the end of 1st round pick when it gets matched and also bump the points they need to match their player down from 3000 points (pick 1) down to 2178 (pick 3).

For us it means giving up on the likely best talent in the open draft, so it will depend on how even we rate the kids at the top to see if it's worth it, plus we'd be giving a pretty big advantage to the club that makes that offer as they'd not only be getting one of the top 2 players in the draft from their FS or NGA player, but also the best talent in the open draft, plus an end of 1st round pick.

Given Ports academy kids next year, I can't see them trading a future 1st, plus we may not want it given how compromised the draft will be with Tassie's picks. So not sure what they may offer for it, but it would be very interesting to see what they would put forward, it probably depends on what they get for Butters. Carlton have all the Sydney 1st rounders from the Curnow trade, but they will be pretty late in the 1st round too.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out, but we've still got a while to go in the season before we see where everyone finishes.

If say Port traded for our pick 1(if indeed we hold pick 1) my understanding is that they wouldn't be compensated for any failed bid they make with that pick. Only the team who originally holds the pick can get that compensation. This is why I have us bidding first for Walker, when Blues match we likely collect the end of rd 1 compo. Then trade pick 2 to Port for 2 picks in the top 6 or 7. So we might have a good chance to turn pick 1(essentially pick 3 if Walker and Cochrane are the 2 best players in the draft) into something like 6, 7, 20 to go with our natural rd 2 pick around 21. Turning what is essentially pick 3 into picks 6, 7 & 20 would be a pretty tidy piece of business, but that looks to be well in play to me.

I hadn't seen any mention of that. I can imagine that if they were outside the bottom 5 on the ladder that trading up would have them excluded, but I would have thought that if they are also in the bottom 5 and move up a couple of picks then the same compensation would apply.

I guess we will see what the AFL comes up with. I don't think some of these clubs are happy not knowing what the rules will be at this late hour.

Some left, others were shown the door like Balme, and one came back, Caracella. The worst one was our fitness guru leaving and putting the butcher in charge. The biggest loser of the lot is the lovable dimwit. It's ok though; now we have two mutes, a president and CEO. A coach that gets excited when we do one good thing per game, a bunch of kids' morale destroyed, and aging players playing through the motions while one takes the piss every week counting his money for doing f all.
