Every time I watch the Saints it seems like he butchers the bull. Runs too fast and doesn't take those few slower steps to compose himself when he kicks. That's just from what I've seen.

Can play both inside or outside, we'd use him mainly on the outside and geez he'd give us that speed we're lacking. Good kick too.

Would rather keep Steven, is known, beat Riewoldt and Montagna who had fantastic years for the 2013 BnF, is approaching his prime and will be a good age when we aim to be contending in 2018-2020. Pick 2 compo would be ok to get for him but it's tough to say, draft picks are lottery tickets, and we don't know if the next bloke we pick will develop as well as Steven has.

I assume we will match any offer until the price is too large or we.'re satisfied that we'll get the band 1 compo. Afraid of the system changing and f***ing us over though.

Don't mind the Tigers, if he had his heart set on leaving the Tiges would be the club I'd want him at tbh. Hopefully we keep him, would be terrible to see him leave.

Sorry to start the thread mate. Really like the Saints. They have always been my second team with my mum and sisters all barracking for them. Would hate to see them get screwed over if he were to leave the club. Wouldn't have the same qualms about screwing over most other clubs. Don't think he will fit your premiership window as well as he will fit ours and a first round compo pick would be a good result I think.

Not sure if there's much to it, he was a mad Saints fan as a kid but seems happy in Adelaide, think Danger is far more likely to leave. Talking about it on the Saints board the general consensus is that most would actually put money on him to stay in Adelaide, but if he were to come over that would awesome.

I'm confident we will match every offer for Jack Steven until it's certain we get the compo after our first pick btw, and then some (especially if the Sloane rumour is BS, I think we'll do everything we can to retain him, at least that's what I'd hope as a supporter).

Would definitely take him and he'd be a more likely target than Dangerfield or Shiel at this stage. Now's our chance to pick up a big name and have that feeling that we'll finally act on it.

I don't mind Steven, but can't see a role for him at RFC. Drummond, Lambert, Short and then the others like Ellis,both of them, can't see a need. No doubt we will not not be picking a few mids in the next few drafts as well. Our midfield is not weak and will only be strengthened regardless of Steven.

Dunno about Conca, he could break out in 2015, still young.

Grigg is a taller left footed winger, simply a different type to Steven even if Grigg tails off.

I think you better off letting Steven go to a club like Hawthorn.

We have plenty of coverage in the short mid area.

There are also options to get this type of player year in and year out. Simply no need at all for RFC to press for Steven IMO. I would consider it another reach similar but not as bad as Hampson

I disagree Mr Magic that we have any player similar to Steven. Who else even comes close to his pace and pack breaking speed other than Lids? Notice how he burns Cotch for a goal in the highlights? Blokes quick.

theflea I'd replace Conca with Steven every day of the week. I'm not saying i'm ready to delist Conca but Steven's output far far exceeds Concas atm.

Not sure where you would put him honestly. Get in the way of Miles and Cotch at extraction and lacks the marking prowess on the flanks.

If he comes in who does he replace? Miles? Can't see him replacing Dusty Lids and co.


don't know how guys like Butler are going to develop yet. We have guys like Edwards as well. He will cost us and will stop us getting involved in better players we need to recruit. No point having an extended bench off the field when the required quality needed is not on the ground.

I see it a bit like Hampson ignoring Griffith's. Simply does not met my cost benefit analysis criteria atm.
