Just wondering who will be watching the Mundine - Green fight?

Is anyone else pumped for this event? I personally cannot wait for the fight, I am not a huge boxing fan but I have followed both of their careers and have been looking forward to this for a very long time.

I think it would be the biggest fight Australia has hosted in a long time, possibly one of the biggest sporting events of the year.

Who do you think will win? I think Green has the power to beat Mundine but Mundine may be too quick. I am predicting a Green win on points.

Yeah I've got my Main Event booking.

Should be a burster - really want Green to win it. Initially liked Mundine a lot but his wannabe Ali act went from a novelty to tiresome to now just laughable. Sure, recite some wack poetry, but the conversion to Islam and political statements (purely for effect) took the cake.

Mundine to dominate early but Green to withstand the barrage and knock him out later in the fight - much like Sven Ottke did.

"Its going to be obscene what I do to Danny Green"

"Man make machine, now man gonna break machine"

For the record I'm backing Green

He's as boring as batsh it with that crap.

I hope Green knocks the living suitcase out of him!! :thumbsu:

I agree DT, I did like him when he first came on the scene from Rugby league, he was entertaining and backed up his words. However, when he converted to Islam and came out with all these stupid political statements (god knows why he was even asked the questions) I sort of just cringed.

He has become a bit tiresome and I am at the point where I would love to see him knocked on his arse as if he won he would be unbearable. After all the things he has come out to say in the lead up to the bout it will be entertaining to see him squirm when quizzed by the media.

Hoping Danny Green win's and Mundine can then STFU.
Not a huge boxing fan but keep an eye on it.

But yeah I am hoping for a Green win, must be my latent racism because I want the Green man to beat the black man :D

I could not handle 12 months of ''I am the man I told you I would be the man , now I am the man you can all bow down to the man I am the man''

STFU man

I'm hoping Green lands a big one early, because I reckon Mundine will win on points if it goes the distance.

A round 1 knock out would be very nice.

Cant stand 'the mouth'! and hope he goes down in a big, big way.

BTW, they reckon the weigh in gives some indication of who is going to win. They say the body language is the give away. I reckon Green looks harder and more prepared than Ive ever seen him. He's one hard nut. Seriously, Mundine might be flashy and fast, but if Danny gets on top, he'll make a real mess of the mouth.

Not even a shoelace of the great man. Wants to be like him, talk like him, walk like him, and act like him. That's about it. He has faced only moderate challenges at best and now it's time. Ali's humour was something that swung me as well as his prowess in the square.

But hope Green will knock his socks off.

Fly like a butterfly,
Sting like a bee,

Its time for the Man Vs. Machine. I know sweet :D:D:D:D all about boxing but one this is for certain, Ali wanna be was intruiging to start with but then his big mouth got the better of him and now he is annoying little ****.

I hope Green wins, but in the process smacks the **** out of that big mouth so it needs some plastic surgery re-arranging.

Strange. I must be the only one despised Mundine's misplaced arrogance from the start. His chest-beating was especially galling when all he was doing was beating up on the absolute dregs.

In fact he was the same in his rugby league days. Back then he'd proudly boast that he was the best five-eighth in the world. (Despite no one agreeing with him.)

If anything my contempt for Mundine has waned. The trash talking has become so ubiquitous that he's descended into self-parody.

Anthony Mundine does come across as a pain, but, the bloke is a bloody seriously good athlete. I haven't noticed too many footballers of any codes go on to become great boxers ( ofcourse Beckham would be a great boxer ). So for that reason alone....GO ANTHONY .

IMO Mundine is nota GREAT boxer. He's lost too many "clinch" fights to be called that.

And Dave, you're not alone. I've always hated Mundine-a tosser of the highest order. Can't help but compare him to Kostya-bit like comparing Rafter and Hewitt I suppose-and it's a "no contest".

Hope Green belts him into next week.

Yes, you are probably right. Great boxer was getting carried away. But I still reckon he had guts to give up the limelight he was in and risk it by going into the ring. He's done pretty bloody well.

He's an entertainer, but that's OK, when was the last time a fight in Aus. created so much interest.

Go Mundine

totally with you on this... cant stand him... hopefully green will kick the living suit cases out of him tonight... cant wait to get to the pub to watch it now!!

I've never liked him either.
He used to whine that the selection committee for national teams and state of origin were rascist. Despite the fact other aborigines got into the teams and one of the selectors was indigeneous too. Nothing to do with him not being good enough of course (or just too young and impatient).

Then all the crap about Ali and modelling himself on him. Gimme a break!

But I must admit now to having a lot of admiration for him. Despite his mouth he probably would have gone onto bigger things in NRL if he had stuck at it. Plus he is a great boxer for such a late starter.

He probably already is the greatest Australian dual sport athlete ever. He hasn't really quite risen to the pinnacle of either sport but he was pretty damned close. Jeff Fenech's conversion to rugby league was laughable by comparison.

I don't like him and I hope Green knocks his block off but I think Mundine might win. Even all the posturing is really just a bit of a show, I think. A bit of bluster to raise his profile. I guess I am softening...

Any other contenders for best ever Aussie dual-sport athlete?
