that presumes someone wants to see the "real UK". ;)

Very true :p I thought of that when I was typing it but really the best part about travelling is to experience different cultures and mindsets and yes, the average english mindset can be a little scary. As Craigy would say "it's a good learning experience" ;)

I work in a hell hole and listen to people from all over South Australia whinge all day. As well as putting up with b**ching in the office. Pays well for my age but had enough anyone who wants to save me I'll be forever in your debt. LOL

Try telling farmers that they are not getting any feed.... in a drought... and you dont know when...and listen to the sound of gunshots while your on the phone.. and you really hope its sheep they are shooting :(

Just sold my business after 10 years of blood, sweat and tears. Spent 15 years in ITC companies and now have gone back into senior management with another ICT company. It's a bit strange going back to an environment where someone else pays you, but I guess I'll adjust in time.

When someone makes you an offer for your business that you 'can't refuse' then it'd be silly to turn it down, after all we started the business to make healthy profits. I just hope they look after my staff in the manner they expect.

yes that is all well and good - but its a bit tough to get to lectures from Adelaide if they are based interstate or O/S and coorespondence is seem as sub standard

lol.

would you like to work from home too? :p

do you have any idea how competitive it is to get into these organisations, and you're worried about the difficulties of leaving Adelaide?

sorry, but it doesn't work like that.

suggest you take visitors not to the barossa or the beach, but perhaps to Elizabeth and Hackham for the real, cultural experience :D

ok sorry.

but simply it can't be done. it's a long path, and you gotta start somewhere. oh, and the degree will probably cost in the vicinity of $A100,000. though there are ways and means.

If you're serious, PM me some time and we can discuss.

Thats correct, i know my degree (5 years ago) cost me A$ 85,000 but it was well worth it. I plan to do another masters in Quantitative Economics (part time) soon, so thats like another 50 k

I drove them past Elizabeth and Hackham, does that count? on the way to the Barossa and Victor ;)

You should have stopped and showed them around Nikki. You could have told them that they were auditioning for Survivor. :)

Speaking of bags Jacob Schuback name ring a bell?? Whats he upto lately?? I unloaded his AFC bag off an ADL inbound flight this evening:eek:
I saw him in January when I went to Melbourne, he was on the same flight that I was on, with his AFC bag... he might have come back to visit his girlfriends family or something?..

yeah i do discharge setts for the bank i work for... but i always try get out of doing settlements on a friday :P It's just crazy in there!

Yeah I know I hate it also, in my job I place caveats against properties that have duty/tax oustanding. So when that property goes to settle I have to attend the settlement to hand over the withdrawal of caveat and receive the payment cheque for the oustanding stamp duty/tax.

Pure madness and I hate having to yell out for the conveyancer about 50 times before you manage to find them.

I'm a fulltime student at Adelaide Uni.

I'm enrolled in a Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Science degree, but I've been failing most things other than Statistics, so I'm doing more finance subjects.

Hopefully if I can get reasonable marks in the finance/economics subjects this year I may change degree (if it is easy to do so). Not sure what I'd change to but Finance/Economics/Commerce would be what I'd look at. The only annoyance would be if I chose accounting I'd end up having to do more 1st year subjects which I already have done more than can be counted towards the degree.

Other than that the only part time work I have is as a Redcoat at AAMI.

Worked in IT for years, first in Adelaide then did a year in Canada both with large IT outsourcing company.

Went to teach English in Korea for something a little different as exploring teaching (and asia) was an itch I just had to scratch. It was okay but not good enough to be 'career changing'.

To keep on travelling, make some money again and bet back into IT I am now working as a IT Business Analyst for one of the big london banks.

Money here seems ridiculous and I'm only at the ground level given I didn't really have much finance experience on the resume before I got here. Just got a contract extension and raise to be earning 1000AUD a day which I know is nothing compared to figures Crow-Mo and co are probably looking at but still getting my head around it myself!
