Gut wrenching. Absolutely awful. I'm still trembling, but what brilliant fight from the boys. We weren't at our best coming off a 4-day break yet we still had the guts to fight it out and nearly over run Collingwood despite being a man down. Another day we would have won.

This group can go a long, long way on courage alone. :thumbsu:

i feel sick im might actually throw up AFL again gifted collingwood 4 points sure have us play carlton and let them play port adelaide off a 4 day turn around absolute bullshit i have to deal with this feeling for ****ing 9 days now

Nearly grinded out the win :d lol

I honestly think we are going to be scary good when we get a few things right. Such as injuries get our players into form ect...

I thought we had it. I really thought we had it. Fantastic effort by the boys though. The courage, the perseverance, it was all on display this afternoon and you can't ask for much more than that. Sure, the four points would've been lovely, but as long as we show that spirit and intensity even in defeat, then I'm never going to be too disappointed.

This. We never give up :'(

Ok, hand is finally starting to hurt...

Nope, not everybody's effort. Watson and Stanton let us down today and we got nothing from Crameri and Ryder that counted. Aside from the afore-mentioned players, yes great effort and spirit shown.

When was the last time we beat them anyway? This is getting ridiculous.

hibberd.

will probably warm to this as a good performance, but right now im too shattered.

But he was subbed? Isn't this why the sub rule was brought in so teams weren't a man down?

3 rotations to 3 rotations isn't really a man down.

I know he is an important piece to your team but I don't see how you guys were a man down.

Seriously? We played you guys after you played Port and Gold Coast, whilst we were coming off Collingwood. A bit of perspective please

Long injury list, 2 hard games in a row in 4 days, some admittedly frightful decisions that went against us, sub in the first AGAIN and we fought well.

Bullish about the future maybe?

Absolutely brilliant effort today, I could not wish for a better game of football to showcase to the AFL why Essendon V Collingwood must continue to be played on ANZAC Day (except for the result to be reversed).

Ben Howlett 3 votes today, he was sensational, maybe not so for all his deffensive efforts but 20 possessions with 7 tackles and a goal, continually put his head over the ball and really got us back into it in that second quarter.

Really showed Carlisles lack of development today, couple of times it showed he is still merely a kid, but be better for the experience.

To Hardingham, only another reason why I F****** wished we had of picked Barlow!!

because off a 4 day break fresh legs in the last quarter makes a big difference im so sick of ****ing hamstring injury's

I know, biggest myth in football is being a man down with an injury

If you had of offered me a week ago a 30 point win over the Blues and a 1 point loss to the Pies I would have taken it in a heart beat after our effort against GCS.

Massive few days for the club and as disappointing as today is it really gives a lot of hope for the remaining year and beyond. I think we are finally starting to put it together.

I see your point :) But we lost a key defender at the end of the first quarter and were unable to bring on fresh legs in the last quarter - a huge blow especially after a 4 day break with extremely tired bodies. Moreover, our sub was a small forward.

Great post.

Frankly we were outcoached and outplayed but the fact we were within a whisker of winning it shows just how far you can go on courage, passion and belief.

No excuses from me, I am just very very proud.
