I actually said to my son during that 3rd quarter that I preferred the recorded crowd to the silence l was hearing.

Might not be a price issue. There are some (like me) who really don't like the new(ish) jumper design and long for the old style. Any gear I buy is when they have retro design stuff.I saw lots in Dockers gear that was so old it had the green colour, and it wouldn't hurt for the club to promote and sell new Dockers clothing, at a reasonable cost, that people want to buy.
I really don't like the green colour it's unlucky for seafarers. That along with the anchor should never have been on the first jumpers. I notice that often the eagles fans will buy whatever is new every year.Might not be a price issue. That's just an excuse. The Freo express train runs straight to the stadium. Wouldn't hurt to have more pop up shops with Freo gear and stadium specials.I believe its optus stadium.
subiaco was on the fremantle train line and thus people from freos heart land were able to go to games and all the weird and wonderful characters with them.
Optus stadium is next to the city and thus you only get the city people who are obsessed with image and wont break that image to scream at the footy.
There is no public transport from freo heart land to optus stadium.
Optus stadium's location hurts freo.
We used to have great players and great games which were exciting to watch and we'd often win at the "house of pain".Well subi used to be off the Richtor with noise with 20,000.
My brother who is a slime member told me he preferred our games because of the amasing atmosphere with half the crowd.
So half full stadium is no excuse.
If you make any noise all chardy sipping knitters look at you like you are a weirdo.

Tabs has me goingOne thing you notice too at games is that when the team is being announced to the crowd individually the only players who really get a reaction are Fyfe, Walters and Mundy. Brad Hill and Neale got reactions too and apart from maybe a player making their debut it's just polite claps. Lobb got a few big reactions last year as did Hogan. Then you've got me being the only one going mad for Taberner![]()

The contest began with lukewarm cheers when our team came out followed up by hearty boo-ing for WC. Pretty ordinary.
IndeedDidn't catch the start, but if this is the case it's conceding ground before the ball's even been bounced.
We had that at Subi imo but it often depended a lot on exactly where you sat. The 2 different spots I had over a decade as a member I don't recall all that much crowd banter at all, not helped by very few oppostion supporters in there of course. But before being a season ticket holder, in the 90s and afterwards when I gave up the membership when moving back into the country in Subi's later days where I just bought random tickets (often in the cheap seats) there quite often tended was a lot of funny stuff going on in the crowd.I'm going to go on an old timers rant. But a huge part of atmosphere at the grounds in the WAFL hay days and AFL is two opposing crowds. We were true 'barrackers'. Crowds would be shouting out to the humour of the crowd as much as the support of the team. The back and forth between two smart arse supporters 10 rows apart was as much a part of the game as the game itself. It was hilarious. The last thing a supporter wanted was the other mob having something to cheer about, so we would cheer our team, in an effort to rise, so our cheers would drown out theirs.
This still exists at AFL games in Melbourne.
In Perth, it's gone. 30 years of one team crowds and people have lost that art of barracking. Some just resort to abuse, thinking it's the same thing. It's not.
When your team is down, that's when supporters should be at their loudest. But people just don't know how to do it. I lose my voice when I'm at the football come win lose or draw. How many here do the same? Any?
Supporters should be (cleverly) having a go at opposition players and shouting support for their own team, no matter the state of the game.
But one team crowds have meant that there is now no banter (or less) and supporters aren't sure of their role.
Ah, the good ol days!
End rant.
Geez I have completely forgotten about the drums but I really liked that. Thought it was someone in the cheer squad.Bring back the guy who used to bang the drum. That's what I say.
Someone complained or it would still be a thing. Also the bellGeez I have completely forgotten about the drums but I really liked that. Thought it was someone in the cheer squad.
Probably a myth but I thought it got barred from being used because someone from West Coast complained about it.
was banned..I want the bell.Bring back the guy who used to bang the drum. That's what I say.
