To think some people believe we have gone for the quick fix under Wallace... shame on you all.

in 2005 we shouldve drafted 2 more kids but hey

i think we can all agree with the OUT coloumn that except for the senior guys the rest were pathetic

if you dont think graham and kingsley were quick fixes then you have no idea

i like the look of the IN kids but some reason still cant find a proper fullback

PLSC we still have along way to go without a doubt but our list looks alot better even if some of our kids havent played much.

Says alot about our 2004 list doesnt it. It is pretty clear that Wallace is looking long term with that IN list.

I also think Terry leaves 1 spot open to pull a rabbit out of the hat.. last year Patrick did well, this year he must be hoping "Carnt Kingsley" does the same.

We shall wait and see.

i cant begin to understand why supporters from other clubs think that we are talking out of our a$$ when we say we've got very good kids on our list ???

because they still laugh when hall fumbles out of the backline or when tivendale starts in the centre or when krakouer still gets games, and then when we draft kent kingsley

hate being the cynic as im usually much more optimistic, but.............we sure have alot of talent but at this stage i think the highlighted names are the only ones we can be CERTAIN of having a big impact in the next couple of years. Most lists in the afl would have that amount of youngsters that will be certain stars, some clubs like bulldogs, melbourne and Hawthorn probably even have us well covered. This is a massive year for a lot of players. Sorry to be cynical i know thats idgafs job but im just sporting a rational view. There is no doubting there is luck in football and we might be lucky with that batch of youngsters not written in bold, we could also be unlucky.

Thats not true.

I agree with Deledio, Hyde, Polo and Foley.

But I think that Howat, Meyer, Tambling, JON, Conners and Jack Riewoldt are almost definetes to be stars or just good players over the next couple of years.

Meyer and Tambling are in my list because if Tambling can toughen up and work in the midfield he will be a definete star and Meyer could easily become a great Small Forward or midfielder.

Cameron Howat , Richard Tambling I think these two are so ready to break it open. Those games that Howat played at the end of last year showed how mature he is for a youngster, should have been playing instead of Chaffey. Tambo has got more guts and speed than a lot od players already on the list. Dont let the Essendon All Stars match fool anyone. TW would have said , yep go ahead play but dont get hurt.

Cleve Hughes, Will Thursfield and Adam Pattison have KP tags marked on them to the extent that Terry made sure he had some older players earmarked to save them from being mauled by Gorillas. ie Kent ,Gasper and Knoble

Jarrad O-Nicholls , Matthew White, Danny Meyer Need to just get to it this year. Just look at Andrew Raines did any of us expect Andy to stand up last yera, but if you look what he did with the Burgers the year before it was there

It may not happen but at least we ahve a basis to be optimistics

Khan

p.s rooster you missed Andrew Raines in your list

Howat got some touches against rubbish sides, who had given up in the later rounds, when our season was already dead and we couldn't make finals, while the other sides were happy with resting better players for next season and scoring draft picks. After round 16-18 onwards our games should be looked over because they were more or less worthless. Cheap wins to make our win-loss ratio look better; yet in reality beating Essendon or Carlton at the end of last season when they'd thrown the towel in means bugger all.

Howat is abit overrated on these boards IMO. He is a prospect, but he has alot of negitives. He isn't young, and for someone comming into his mid 20's he is very short and has very little muscle on him. He isn't super-quick either.

While his kicking is top class he is going to need more than cheap backline touches against bottom 2 sides in dead, end of season games to prove he is in our best 22 if we want to ever be a top 4 side.

Perhaps, but I created that list to highlight exactly who has come in and more impartantly who has come out.

Many people think you can create a great team by adding a few top draft picks over a few years, takes alot more than that to clean out an entire team..... 21 players are no longer tigers in just 2 years.

Those who think we are taking the quick fix option are not looking at our list properly IMO.

Amazing !!!

To think some people believe we have gone for the quick fix under Wallace... shame on you all.

Just a quick Question........ummm wasn't chris hyde already on our list prior to 2004?? his profile on Richmondfc.com.au says that he was drafted in 2000??

if it meant to symbolise players who have stepped up this side of 2004 then i apologise!

why are u ALWAYS so negative PLSC...every list has players like that...so lets just focus on the positives..which is the majority of the ins list.

yeh i always laugh when i still see josh wooden on the eagles list but they are able to cover him, our duds cant be covered so they deserve what they get

i agree howat played against rubbish teams but just look back to the dogs games when the pressure was on and with limited gametime he picked up his 20 odd possesions and a couple goals, he wont be a gun but id take him over tivenfail or chris "ill run left or right but not straight" hyde

Eagles have kept guys around for ages throughout their history. Kasey Green, Rowan Jones, Josh Wooden, Travis Gaspar. Lots of obscure guys with long careers over there.

Anyone knocking Richmond's effort of 'offing' 22 players just doesn't understand the way the list / salary cap / draft system works nowdays. We lead the league in boneing.

Carlton - 22
Richmond - 21
Hawthorn - 21
Collingwood - 20
Port Adelaide - 19
Kangaroos - 19
Essendon - 18
West Coast - 17
Brisbane - 16
Bulldogs - 16
Geelong - 16
Sydney - 15
Melbourne - 14
Adelaide - 14
St Kilda - 13
Fremantle - 11

Freo are interesting when you consider that Simmonds, Polak, Medhurst, Haines, T.Longmuir were all traded and Waterhouse 'retired' hurt. Somone needs to tell them just how bad a lot of their players really are.

It's the Cuddles factor, Weaver,he doesn't want to hurt anyones feelings.

Hardly suprisng we're right near the top of the boneing tree, new fairly intelligent coach, following on from Frawley and the Geisch.Too bad we couldn't get anything useful in return from the 21-bar Otttens and Fiona.

I suspect our boning dominance may be on the wane in future.Terry is begining to get 'ownership' of the list.

Personelly I wouldn't mind see us dominate this tabvle indefinately.Turnover is a pro active way to build a competative side.

can think of quite a few players we should be able to make a definative decision on one way or another come the end of this season.

Guys like Hall,Tivendale,Moore,Krak,Hartigan,Jackson,Gaspar and a number of others should consider themselves under the pump.

Whats your opinion on Quentin Lynch? (I'm guessing you think he's very good?) He has been with WCE for a long time and he finally had a more than average year in 2006. Finally, he gave them something back.

Same thing goes with Tivendale, he played 2 bad seasons but you can't seem to 'let it go' but if you do think Lynch is good (which I'm pretty sure you do), its stupid. If Lynch was a Tiger, would you still want him out of side after all those poor years until 2006?

yeah cheers mate, i knew where you were going with that, my reply was in regard to an earlier post that we have alot of depth with the kids.

i hope you're right mate and think you more then likely will be, but the players not highlighted that have been in the system a good couple of years now need to step up this year. On form alone we couldnt be certain they will have an impact. as for Jon, conners and riewolt....they have played 1 game between them, to early to judge for better or for worse.

Lynch is young. Very young for a KPP.

Tivendale is in his late 20's.

Personally I agree. I think as a general rule AFL clubs are far, far too conservative. I mean you can pretty safely cut a Chris Hyde and get an Adam Bentick or the like on the cheap. AFL clubs are very very keen to stick with what they know.

Probably like most things the aim is to be about in the middle of the list. The Carlton, Richmond and Hawthorns are up the top against their will because we are rubbish and cutting deadwood.

I think some of the St Kilda, Melbourne, Adelaide types are perhaps a bit too complacent and think they are closer to success than they are.

I like the Eagles cutting seven guys after a premiership (lots of retirments and easy decisions). I think that every year you have to do that sort of surgery.

can think of quite a few players we should be able to make a definative decision on one way or another come the end of this season.

Guys like Hall,Tivendale,Moore,Krak,Hartigan,Jackson,Gaspar and a number of others should consider themselves under the pump.

Tivendale is a 22-game a season player. Not popular, but none-the-less a key guy in the team and a top-10 in the B+F.

The days of trading Hall are over. Might as well keep him around as a 10-game a season back-up. Can't hurt too much.

Gaspar is playing out time. He is toast.

Hartigan, Moore, Jackson, Meyer and Krak have to be under the pump a bit.

Hyde will want a good season as well. Tough to see Wallace finding room for Johnson, Hyde, Hartigan, White, Newman, Foley, Raines, Polo, Connors, King and Collins on next seasons' list. Probably 2-4 more back-pocket / inside midfield / rover types than we want.
