i was thinking about player values. And people flick values around everywhere.
So I thought it might be fun to see how we all envisage current contracts.

I've used 10 million as the cap value.
We have a little bit of info from previous media reports and comments by Cook that they like to group players together.

This won't be easy, here goes.
And yes I added rookies. Will make bugger all difference. Where do you have them all?

The AFL players association release the actual values rookies get paid and bonus structure. And first year draftees that's why your cap is so far out. Do some research

Oh so you agree with al the other values then?
And if I just remove the rookies 1.7mil will disappear? Sweet!

Selwood - 800k
Dangerfield - 800k

Taylor - 700k
Hawkins - 700k

Motlop - 550k
Henderson - 550k

Touhy - 400k
Mackie - 400k - more like $300k. Got the security of a long term deal a few years ago and a bit less cash would have been the quid pro quo.
Duncan - 400k

Stanley - 350k
S. Selwood - 350k
Smith - 350k
Blicavs - 350k - I'd say one rung down - $250-$300k. A Carji might have bumped him up a bit.
Lonergan - 350k
Guthrie - 350k

Menzel - 250k - less. Was signing on year by year when things were very uncertain. Probably $200k.
Murdoch - 250K
Horlin-Smith - 250k - less. As with Mackie would have traded off money for security. $200k.
Menegola - 250k - much less. Thrown an AFL lifeline.

Thurlow - 250k

Lang - 150k
Parfitt -150k
Cockatoo - 150k
McCarthy -150k
Kolo - 150k
Cowan - 150k - don't know what his last contract was but hopefully it was on minimum given injury history.
Black - 150k
Bews - 150k
Gregson - 150k
Ruggles - 150k - thrown AFL lifeline. Would be on minimum.
Stewart - 150k - thrown AFL lifeline. Would be on minimum.

Quibbles highlighted. I reckon I've shaved about $500k but on the other hand some are probably getting more than I expect.

Rookies get a bit less than National Draft selections but I'm not sure what the exact numbers are.

If the team were on performance based contracts, half the team would've had to pay us to play in the last few weeks...

No I don't agree with any of your values but when your (out ) the cap is (10.37mil) and trying to do a rough list management estimate. You could at least use the actual released AFL player values which you can work out for rookies and first year players your coming up at 11.7

So

So your being a wise ass I'm actually just trying to help you. You just listed everything down the bottom as 100k

Due to the long running collective bargaining negotiations we still don't know what this years salary cap is. Its likely to be close to 12.5 million per team. Not including the additional services payments.

And a lot of that won't matter anyway. Cook said that most of the players had any cba changes built into the contract. So as for the structure of our payments it's not going to change a great deal.

FFS sake ray you're getting your knickers into a twist over nothing.
Probably should go into the detail of veterans payments. The effect LTI has on the cap.
The change due to payments to parsons.
Who's front ended and who's back ended.

Just skip the thread if you can't think with broad thoughts.

Once again, agree with catempire.

It was mentioned in an article last month that one way we could afford to trade in Ablett was to lose Motlop (either trade him out or via FA) and that would save us $600k - so you can update his salary if that is deemed an accurate figure

Thanks for the attachments - the above isn't hard to locate, nor are things like the tribunal rules (easy google searches for both), but some seem to prefer to make it up as they go and then complain when called out or corrected.

Rookies only get 100k if upgraded and playing senior footy so most of ours wont get that.

A quick guesstimate

Last years salary cap $10.6 million. Projected increase of 20% from last years number brings it to 12.7 million.

Promoted rookies receive a 50% discount from there rookie wage. Category B rookies aren't included under the cap.
Slight overestimation of the rookie and national draft wages counteracts the match day payments that a few players receive.

Numbers don't include payments under the additional services agreements which will be able to total around 1.2 million across the whole team. Assuming the current ratio of TPP to ASA stays relatively constant.

Motlop is on 650k. Danger and Selwood are on 850k, Hawkins not far behind maybe 750-800k. Taylor around 600k. Scooter is 400k.

Menegola would be on peanuts, maybe 150k.

Nice work.
You seriously think Selwood and danger are on 700k this year? No way.
And Taylor won't be on 500 either.

The figures are what I think they'll be paid this year once the TPP are finalised. So Selwood, Danger and Hawkins are on 850k under the tpp. They'd get other payments that fall under the additional services argrements cap.

Taylor is in the last year of a 5 year contract signed back in 2012. At the time the talk was that it was in the ball park of a 5 year 600k per year.

Not every player's contract will scale exactly with the TPP.
