Current/future A graders -

Steven
Ross
Steele
Sinclair

B+/high level players:

Dunstan - stagnated for too long
Acres - finds the ball but cannot use it
Newnes - not enough contested ability for A grade status
Armo - one year wonder but still solid

Too early to tell but high hopes:

Clark
Coffield
Freeman

Billings and Gresham will obviously be A graders but I think they spend another 3-4 years in the forward line before moving into the middle.

Like I've been saying for a while we're two A grade mids short of where we need to be. I'd say Hunter Clark is the best bet for one of those spots and hopefully 1 or 2 more from the B+ down categories can surprise and we can start contending.

 

[The Punter]

Every year Steven has been fully fit since 2013 he has won the B&F. With an improved midfield around him I suspect he'll have a great 2018 if he gets through unscathed.

This. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how he goes when there isn't so much of a load on him. That 40 disposal game v North late in the year was a good reminder of what we were missing for most of the year.

Funnily enough he had a season-high 11 clearances (only one short of his PB) in that game, despite playing most of it on the wing!

Like his recent seasons, Armo could start with a bang then fizzle out as the year goes on- and as he gets older he is not going to turn into a new player. Steven needs to basically pull his finger out and work harder at breaking tags- as far as I'm concerned, if you get selected and start on the ground then you should be fit enough to play your best footy.

2 of his last 3 games 2016 were pretty good.
