I think it is a toss up between Maxy and Coiny for the most important defender.

Max offers great leadership as well as a strong defensive game and surprising speed. Luke Penny is probably our best traditional key defender and we suffer when he is unavailable for selection. Vossy is a versatile medium sized defender who can play key defender when needed, but is best used as a mobile free man in defence filling the gaps and constantly thwarting the oppositions attempts at creating an extra forward from running players coming forward. Aussie is our rebound specialist and go to player that everyone looks for to clear the ball out of defence.

The guy with the greatest potential upside to his game is Goose, he is brilliant and will be something special.

There's talk that suggests that Leigh Fisher may be suffering from a more serious shoulder injury than first thought and this may affect his 2005 season.

I think he is a great prospect and if this is true then I can only hope that he has a speedy recovery.

The defender I would most hope has a 1 week holiday before playing us would be Maxy H ....very brave (perhaps a problem sometimes) versatile and has that skill to settle down the back half.

Nope, sorry. Ive watched all the game replays when he plays and I think your making something of nothing. I would choose shwarzt over him, and he probably wont get many games next year.

None of them are really duds though - even Voss Jnr is starting to impress opposition supporters though I am surprised that Kosi isn't mentioned as a backman. Didn't he start off as CHB ?

So you would be willing to trade Maguire instead of Penny would you.
We could cover for Penny with the like's of Sam Fisher, but who could cover an up and coming young star such as Matty.

Incase u didn't notice Maguire missed a large chunk of the season and wasn't anybody until only this season (youngin and all). Maxy could fill his role like he did against Hall or Sam Fisher would get the gig with brett Voss being told to pay extra attention to the CHF.

This is a smooth operating machine. Take any component out regardless of how big or small and it doesn't work. Sorry if I offended you.

FWIW IF I had to choose, I certainly wouln't pick Maguire, I love the kid but Penny orr Max would get the nod. Always take experience to youth
