Out Of Contract Players.

Ottens performances are better than Blake's it's just that his expectations are much higher. Anyone that says Ottens is a fill in for Blake to come on is kidding themselves. This is coming from a Carlton supporter and, although I don't rate Ottens as highly as others, I would still love him at my club.

You have misread and misunderstood the point of my post. Corporal claimed that Ottens would be 20 times the player Blake would be. Corporal, I do believe, has never seen Blake play, and thus is making a wild guess as to how good young Blake will be at AFL level. Now you also claim that Otten's performences are better than Blake's. How can this be said when Blake is yet to debut at AFL level? Your claim is absurd as it has no fact to back it up. Of course Ottens' expectations are high. He was a high draft pick, and should be putting in high quality level performences. Yet he doesn't, and when he does, it is not on a consistent basis. And that there is a fact.

I believe Unwritten_Law was implying that should we have Ottens, he would be a useful ruck partner to Steven King until young Mark Blake had developed fully to assume that mantle. Ottens' performances are best displayed in the forward line, and not in the ruck. Therefore wouldn't you use him more often in the forward line than as opposed to in the ruck?

Ottens would be more dominating if our ruck coach told him to play like brusbane's or something different and also Ottens could be a very damaging Forward like in 2001

Me thinks Ottens is a bit better then a "forward/pinch hit ruck" and 20times the player Blake will ever be.

So Ottens would replace a fit Steven King as the #1 ruckman at Geelong then? By "forward/pinch hit ruck" I mean that he would play the majority of the time in the forward line and then ruck for 5-10 mins a quarter to give King a breather.

(wind blows & leaves turn from green to brown, & then dust).

Cant wait to see the back of tha useless hack.

If kent kinsgley and Ball are out of contract at seasons end I would say it would be sure bet they would be in the brown and gold next year. Hawks to use second round pick for ball and third round for kinglsey. We would also like Rodan and will trade Lance piconane for him.

West Coast

Kerr
Morrison
Matera and i think
Fletcher and Sampi (not totally sure though)

Matera signed last year, ditto Sampi. Kerr extended his contract earlier this year. Not sure about Fletcher but I think he is tied up until 2006 as well.

Phew! yeah i wasnt totally sure but i remember rumors towards the end of last year that a couple of those above players were coming out of contract pretty soon. But im happy if theyre all tied up:D

nah we won't give up Lonie

You can have Nick Holland instead imagine having him at CHF and Richo and FF you would have a super tall forward line.

There's a article in the Hun regarding Goddard. They say his management and the club are close to inking a new deal. As for Luke Ball, the article states that although it is highly unlikely that Ball will leave the club, negotiations look to be put off until season's end.

Goddard close to new deal

21 May 2004
Herald Sun
Mark Stevens and Jon Pierik

THE good times keep rolling for St Kilda, with emerging star Brendon Goddard close to signing a new deal.

Goddard's management has had several meetings with the Saints' hierarchy and it is clear the 2002 No. 1 draft pick is not going anywhere.

It is understood it is just a matter of fine tuning some detail in a new two-year contract.

"We expect to get something done fairly soon -- probably in the next couple of weeks," Goddard's manager Dan Richardson, of Elite Sports Properties, said last night.

"It could be a three-year deal, but it is more likely to be two."

Goddard signed a two-year deal when drafted to Moorabbin.

He was a fanatical Carlton supporter before being drafted, but the Blues lost their No. 1 pick for salary cap breaches.

Another young gun, Luke Ball, is also out of contract at the end of the year.

Although Ball, the No. 2 choice in 2001, is highly unlikely to go anywhere, there is a chance negotiations will not begin until after the season.

Richmond is yet to open contract negotiations with two of its blue-chip players, Mark Coughlan and Brad Ottens.

Tigers director of football Greg Miller last night said negotiations might begin soon but he was confident the club would retain the pair despite the strong lure both would have to return to their home states.

He said neither had expressed a desire to leave Punt Rd.

"For a player to move club there has to be a solid reason," Miller said.

"Most players don't want to talk about it until the end of the season."

South Australian Ottens, the league's leading tap ruckman, would be a perfect fit for both Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

West Australian Coughlan, the reigning club champion, is expected to be chased by West Coast and Fremantle.

richmond will lose at least one of those players or offer them about 600k like the gaspar deal

yeah i agree, i think because of richmonds form they will be to 'trigger happy' with richmond prolly 'over-paying' them which has backfired on them in the past, (eg-gaspar- gun player but those injuries are hurting the club)

I think Hadley is out of contract at the end of the year.

Same with Corrie.

But I'd expect Brisbane to sign them up before the end of the season. I doubt those 2 will want to go anywhere.

And with retirements at the end of the year and Voss on the veteran's list (if he doesn't retire) we will be able to sign up our bigger names.
