Who do we think we are?Looks like we’ve asked for money and Peter Malinauskas has given us both barrels this morning
A good reason to play it at KR, two days over the weekend.
The deal needs to be if we give the SACA this, our AFLW side plays it next Finals at AO.
Would draw a bigger crowd...
I would stipulate that the AFLW grand final is hosted at AO only in the event Adelaide qualify. Port still have to play at AlbertonThis.
In 2017 they played an International Rules test at Adelaide Oval the day after a 4 day tour match. Going way back, there was also the NYE pre-season game at the MCG a day or so after a test match was played there.
If they can turn around the ground for that in under 24 hours surely they can shoehorn the Shield final in between footy matches.
Plus this gives the AFL leverage to host the AFLW GF at Adelaide Oval should us (or Port) earn hosting rights.

Grass needs to be a certain level for a game to go ahead due to concussion reasons.Dont think itll matter that much, its not going to be as lush as normal but itll be fine.
SA taxpayersI have one question: a Shield final at AO would surely lose $$. Who picks up the bill?

If it was Port might be different?Looks like we’ve asked for money and Peter Malinauskas has given us both barrels this morning
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas says he won’t be bowing to a “galling” request from the Adelaide Crows for a financial incentive to allow the Sheffield Shield final to be played at the Adelaide Oval between two AFL games.
The SA government, Cricket Australia and the AFL are working towards wedging the final in between Port Adelaide’s season-opening match at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, March 22 and the Crows game at the same venue the following Sunday.
The drop-in pitches used during the season have already been removed from the venue ahead of the Crows’ first AFL home game on March 16 but could be put in for a Monday to Friday clash and then removed with minimal impact.
Malinauskas has made it a priority for SA, which last won the Shield in 1996 and has already secured the home final, to play the game at Adelaide Oval.
But on Wednesday he revealed a “request” for cash and hoped that it “doesn’t get in the way” of the plan coming together.
“We have received a request, it’s not from cricket, I won’t say what entity it is in footy,” he told 5AA in Adelaide before intimating it was from the Crows.
“What I would say is we are asking for people to act rationally and pragmatically in the interest of fans.
“The South Australian government has already shown an awful lot of support to both footy clubs locally, particular the Adelaide footy club.
“I’ve got to say it’s a little bit galling that people are trying to use an opportunity to look after fans as an opportunity to slug the taxpayer and I won’t be having it.
“Just handing over cash is not something that I’ll be doing. I hope this doesn’t get in the way of it.
“I’m not naming any names, I’m just saying my government is not going to be giving cash so they get out of the way of something everybody thinks should happen.”
In a round about way we do through the SMA.I have one question: a Shield final at AO would surely lose $$. Who picks up the bill?

SA Premier lashes Adelaide Crows cash request to allow Sheffield Shield final at Adelaide Oval

Why SA premier is pushing for AFL backdown on Shield final
The push for the Sheffield Shield final to be played at the Adelaide Oval will require a compromise from both the AFL and cricket authorities, but it has the backing of the highest office in the state.www.theage.com.au
"everyone is going to have to give a little bit" - well Mali, I can see that the cricket and the Crows are giving "a little bit", but what is your beloved filth giving?
Maybe the ground destruction can start at 3/4 time of their game once their supporters are on the bus?"everyone is going to have to give a little bit" - well Mali, I can see that the cricket and the Crows are giving "a little bit", but what is your beloved filth giving?
Looking in from interstate - and avoiding all political leanings/policies etc - but he seems by far and away the most successful, charismatic and likeable Premier BY FAR. The best Premier by far looking at some key metrics (and not being aware of others like state debt, budgets etc). Who would have thought ADL property>>>MLB property although it’s perhaps slightly misleading due to the composition of properties in each city (MLB has double the % of units/apts/thouses therefore suppressing overall median value for all properties)Looks like we’ve asked for money and Peter Malinauskas has given us both barrels this morning
I heard the interview on radio this morning and I'd be absolutely fuming if I were AFC management. Basically spelt out it was the Crows under the bus but then follows it up with "I'm not naming any names". Not the way to go about it imoThe headlines and Mali make it sound like a cash grab but really all we are looking for are assurances and not be liable for injury or if our game cannot go ahead.
I don't think what we/AFL have asked for is unreasonable. Certainly not galling as he put it.
The Advertiser have it as its the AFL who want the cover, which I can totally understand.I heard the interview on radio this morning and I'd be absolutely fuming if I were AFC management.
