PAFC make AFL history hosting a game of ping pong in China, so why are the Crer customers so upset?

Also an agreement that the SANFL had to drop any court action against Port Adelaide & nudge nudge wink wink the 2nd licence will go to you.. such a disappointing outcome :drunk:

Bruce Webber and Co. set the ball rolling & got us in, the in's and out's don't matter along with all those pissant SANFL clubs stuck in a 3rd tier crap comp forever.

Yes they do matter. You liked a post saying that I was rewriting history. I'm not, my account is factual. The Port mandate that we only exist because of Port Adelaide is also a fallacy. Had Port not stuck the knife in the back of the SANFL, we would have had a side in within 3 years and with far better entry conditions.

I liked that post because although they were happy to have Port ruffle feathers they also would've been happy for Port to enter had it gone another way you just see it to suit, am I supposed to be upset that a ballsy move ultimately lead to my club entering a national comp?

And biding time waiting for the stuck in the past SANFL to get their act together is akin to standing still.. Player Retention Schemes ffs lol they got the reality check they needed

Keep telling yourself that.

Wee Licker and Basheer would have just continued to sit on their hands and do nothing. It was the whole reason they created the player retention scheme as they wanted to keep players in the local comp.

They had no intention of putting a team from South Australia in the AFL. They are the facts.

Player retention scheme was a farce when they included spuds like Salisbury and Mandemaker in it.

And to think Norwood/ Sturt and the cartel of the other shit clubs in the SANFL actually thought they had a great chance of winning the 2nd licence

LOL yea, the stories about Nord n' Sturt officials storming out of meetings early in the process when they realised it was a one horse race yet still had to put on some sort of face lel

They are not the facts Nelso. Those are Port facts conveniently invented to justify their treachery. There was already a proposal in front of the AFL/VFL, but the commencement date was not satisfactory to the VFL as they were bleeding financially and were not that far from possibly being insolvent. Port Adelaide was the pawn that delivered the VFL's desired outcome.

I am sure you can provide evidence of that proposal that was before the VFL/AFL?

The SANFL — that today is at a critical point in finding its future direction in the second tier of Australian football — was, as Cornes should well remember, challenging the national agenda in 1982, 1985, 1988 and not just 1990. The “what if” moments are far more than just from Port Adelaide’s prodding in 1990. And at times, in particular in 1982, it was the SANFL itself that was intending to dramatically change the landscape with its entry to the VFL.

As the SANFL reaches yet another critical crossroad, it is worth remembering — with apologies to Jack Oatey and Geof Motley for merging their famous quotes — that Australian football is such a great game that no matter how often we try to trip it up, the sport survives. Too many people love it. And Max Basheer need never apologise for that thought.

Proposals developed well before 1990, but with varying reason as to why they didn't go ahead. The 1985 submission fell over on the basis that SANFL refused to participate in a competition called the VFL. WAFL broke ranks with the SANFL in entering the comp in 1987 after committing to solidarity. Much like Port Adelaide who also voted against entering the comp, then proceeded to do it behind SANFL's back. There was always a proposal there, but not one that involved a $4 million licence fee and the watered down concessions that we had to accept.

What does the WAFL breaking ranks tell you?

Correct. Thread has taken a turn though; perhaps we should rename it:
"PAFC make treachery knifing the SANFL in the back, that's why the Crow supporters wont ever let them forget it."
