I gave it a watch last night too. Opposite to Nerf I watched the Original ending with the movie then the Theatrical ending later.
I actually think both work in their own circumstances.
I might hide the next stuff as some could take it as a spoiler depending on how they take this and I'll probably end up spoiling something anyway.
BTW Nerf
Overall, good movie, some good frights, built up the tension VERY well, felt real. I wasn't as scared as some have built it up to be, but it was still a very good scary movie.

But for mine. The Original ending works better if you're looking at this movie as exactly what it states at the start of the film, that it's just video footage let free from Police Archives and showing us these people's terrifying story. I like it because it is very much like the Cloverfield ending. It doesn't give you what you want, it just ends how it probably would in real life. I really admired Cloverfield for going this route especially when it was a far bigger budget and hyped movie and the ending certainly turned a lot of people off but it went the exact way they portrayed the movie as that of police archive footage being shown to the public.
That being said I think the theatrical ending is probably the right one to go with for the mainstream showings. It provides the extra jump and WTF? moment right at the end too.
While the original ending is a bit anti-climactic and drags just slightly too long, for mine it would be the better ending IF they want to portray this movie as the police archived footage, much like Cloverfield.
Either way I wasn't actually disappointed with either ending, and the other one (which I won't spoil either) would probably work out well too.

WTF is the 'manhole' scene?
