Bower was one of our best tonight again I thought. How much has this guy improved since last year? Using the ball better I think and he's taking more marks as well. Gonna be one too watch :)

Yes he has improved a lot, but it seems like his finally mastered the role of CHB perfectly ...

Is a decent spoiler, and reads the play well, but the most encourging sign is that his disposal, esp his foot skills have improved a lot from say, 2/3 years ago.

The club has been very patient with him, and now it looks like he's paying dividends.
I feel as though he is destined for great things in the AFL and at Carlton.
Other clubs and supporters are noticing him too as well ..

Was probably our best player last week too. Has really shown some real confidence and consistency after a pretty average first few games.

Looking slightly less startled but still somewhat emu-like. :thumbsu:

Bower becomes a star just when waite goes out for the year.

Good timing! :thumbsu:

Its a very interesting time for our backline with Waite on the side lines. Waite's injury could be a blessing in disguise, the development of Bower, Austin and Jamo could be fast tracked due to the increased responsability. The three look to be a fantastic combination........although I still beleive we need a good medium sized defender that can play on those smaller marking types............I think we saw that last night.

Bower is beginning to really become a vital cog in the backline like Jamo and I think Austin will develop faster than many of us thought.

This bloke is really hitting it atm!
His spoils were awesome lastnight, and the reason i know he's gonna be a great back for us is that he knows when to leave his opponent and go the contest, and when he does he always gets the spoil, that is something a lot of backmen struggle to get right...
Very smart player and with his run and disposal improving it is such a relief to know we have a prospective AA backman!

Without wanting to ignite all the russell haters, he might be an ideal candidate for this job - is pretty quick, and reasonably tall and athletic - it might be the best thing for him - don't worry about kicks or getting the ball, just stop your man.

One of our most consistent performers this season, and is really becoming a very good defender at AFL level. Now that he has 30+ games under his belt, his confidence at playing at the highest level is assured. A very important part of our backline, and could quite easily turn into a 150+ game player for our footy club.

Its Angelo Christou version 2.0

I reckon that's a fair call. Has a more "cat in tumble-dryer" style than Ang but yeah, attacking, rebounding, improving disposal. His athleticism is extraordinary - he seems to be in panic mode yet his solid defending and accurate clearances display a cool head. Love my Emu. :thumbsu:

Magnificent description there Thy....almost choked on my coffee !!! :D:D

I have the most annoying woman behind my reserved seat. She constantly bitches about Bower even when he's 25 metres away from the play. Did anyone else hear her last night? I am rapidly losing patience with her constant bickering. Oh, and she kept calling Stevo 'weak', despite his great performance. I turned around and just looked at her for a little while, but it was to no avail as she began her ranting about 3 seconds after I turned around.

Basically, I have the worst seat in Etihad.

Sat in my reserved seat there once only. Moron spent the whole day bagging the team and Pagan at the top of his lungs. Had a 12 year old son who looked like he wanted to die. I turned to him and suggested he might want to say something positive about the players (mind you we were shit, but I wasn't copping it from that clown.)

I go to GA as I usually have a friend or family member with me anyway. You can always try and get the club to move your seat. Certainly at season's end. Don't put up with that shit, mb.

Even then, he's looking more composed week by week and less like a deer caught in the headlines - or a startled emu, if you prefer.

Not only is he comprehensibly beating his man but he's also providing a lot of run from defence and getting back to help out our other defenders. If he continues to improve at this rate, he'll soon be 7 feet tall and shooting lightning from his arse.

You could try wearing a really tall hat or beehive style hairdo to block her vision of 'supposed' crap play by our boys or just get one of those blow up fingers the kids have and constantly wave it around.
When she gets annoyed because she can't see and has a crack at you, ignore her like she does to your pointed stairs.
Petty yes, but for flips sake, if you can't get on board this year and enjoy the game then stay home.

LMFAO...could be wrong but dare I say I think we sit next to the same woman but I have to put up with her at the G for away games. Does she go to the games alone?

She bags Stevo constantly. All she does is take digs at the players throughout the whole game. She also takes digs at Armfield 'oh don't give it to Armfield he's $%^&'. Don't get me started on the way she bags Russell. I can only laugh at her because it's so sad.

I think the worst call of the lot was wishing an umpire had terminal cancer... I almost spat my drink out .

See that is why I don't go for reserved seating ... Your stuck all year near really annoying and irritating nuff nuffs ..
