Pends a future star

This kid has talent! he gets in there, can kick and has a few sneaky skills of him too. I might tend to say he is better than Daisy. I think pends should or will in a couple of weeks get a NAB nomination if he keeps this form up. Your Thoughts?

i tend to agreewith the fro somewhat... but i think its too had to compare thomas to pendles... i think both will be great for us... but both have different styles...

regardless of their styles they give us a good look at who our 2 next superstars will be... and i know this is premature, but pendles will be our next brownlow medalist...

Pendlebury seems to have answered some queries of his work off the ball and his intensity. But some of his chasing/zoning work is fantastic. Some of his efforts at ground level when he hasn't got the ball were impressive vs. Kangaroos.

He has always been superb at that. Opposition supporters who say he is a soft flashy half forward flanker have one thing in common with Ray Charles, and it's not race, musical talent or being dead. He hardly even played in the forward line in the game.

Digging up old threads, even only a week or so old is crap and this thread encourages discussion on Pendles after his round 1 game. If we deleted/merged every similar thread there wouldn't be many left.

Thats a very interesting question.
And you will get a lot of very interesting answers.

Thomas will never be the player Judd is. But I think Collingwood would never accept to this because of age. Thomas is a few years younger = more years as a star in the AFL.

Thomas has that x-factor about him. No matter what, he'll be a star, but no one knows if he can also be a James Hird tpye player in 4-5 years, and a player like that is more valuable then Chirs Judd.

Pendlebury was good on the weekend. I get excited when I watch him play because I haven't seen a midfielder in that same mould at Collingwood. He should start on the ground and keep him in the side for the rest of the season. There will be times during the year when he struggles to push a step further, but I've no doubt he will be better for the experience. He is going to be a very good footballer, same as Dale Thomas, there's no doubt about it.

I am a big fan of Pendlebury, he has poise, balance, awareness and some good skills. What he lacks however is the run through the lines that a Thomas has. I noticed in the NAB cup and also on Saturday that often when Pendelbury got the ball he would stop and prop even when he was in the clear. Now some would argue that we wish Rhyce shaw would do this more as an example but several times Pendlebury slowed down a run on. I think as he gets more used to the syle of play he should improve in this.

Thomas's output is still considerably greater than Pendles', and it always has been. But I can see how Pendlebury could be a better player than Thomas oneday, maybe even this year. Just not so far.

No, he'll say "gee, that kid that made a ridiculous prediction based more on bias and wishes than any kind of realistic evidence actually lucked onto the correct one".

There's thousands of supporters on this site predicting every one of their young kids to win the Brownlow some day - They're not all going to be right... But some of them are - It doesn't mean they're any smarter than the others, it means that they happen to support the team of the player that won it.

In all due respect it's not like the entire magpie faithfull are saying he'll win the B-Low. Pendlebury won't get on to bigfooty and say "awww hamburgers spartan-magpie says I will win a brownlow. I better win it or I'll be in trouble!"

Good game. Very good link player across HFF but IMO he stops and starts too much, needs to play the game a bit more instinctively when he has the ball in space and take his first option and look for options a bit quicker.
