Am I the only one that is absolutely staggered and dumbfounded as to how these two people remain employed at our club?

They were remarkably influential in the pile of shit that choco was ultimately responsible for during the last few years, yet as someone mentioned in another thread, the only change that occurred was choco left but everyone else remained.

When an assistant takes over the head coach during a season and are chosen to be the permanent coach thereafter, do they usually bring in a new group of people for the next season? I wonder what Neil Craig for example did in 2004/05.

Everytime I see these two men, I just think of low achievers that have no clue what they're doing. Goofballs that must be laughing to themselves at night how lucky they are to continually get paid what they currently are. They scream out doofus and symbolically proclaim 'derrrrrrrr' upon sight.

What cred does Cripps have as a forward coach, let alone a defensive coach? Please tell me. Seriously. Bring me down, refute me. Ditto Rohde as an assistant? I seriously and honestly want to know. I challenge you to make me look like an idiot.

I can't disagree with the OP. I've often thought the same about the pair of them. Laidley too for that matter, even with all of his "matchday Einstein" plaudits.

Why people point out Cripps only still baffles me.

An easy target that's why - people usually have more emotional attachment to players rather than assistant coaches.

That's why when we go through the usual 'list management' or 'delist' threads after a loss, the whole list gets named by virtue of the number of posters contributing and showing their personal bias - and that's when the arguments start.

According to someone very close to Brogan, both Lade and Brogan had issues with Cripps and his strategies a few years back, to the point were Brogan was very close to moving to Carlton because of him. There weren't too many kind words said about Cripps.

Bring back over Lade. The kids need to learn to tap ruck properly for once, I don't care if he and Primus are the ONLY ex Power players coaching us.

You're only as good as the people you surround yourself with. Primus essentially has an Irish grocery store at his disposal. The best he can possibly do with it is start up a hot chips store and funnel back the money to the PAFC debt demolition.

I only rate Hocking, but he is yet to show some real influence of what he was like as a player into his coaching.

I hope Matty realises this and starts to build from a solid foundation and not try to cover up the ever increasing cracks, because the house will fall down eventually.

I still have faith, but shit does change need to occur.

You say this as though having a connection to Port is beneficial/important. My opinion is that if anything, it is damaging.

**** the romance of ex-players coaching our club.

I'm not saying it's important or beneficial. I'm saying it as he's a great ruck-man and could probably be the best we could persuade to actually help coach us and would have a voice to get a decent backup set of rucks.

Brogan was very close to moving to Carlton at one point, about two weeks from it at one point according my [credible] source. I hadn't heard Cripps was part of the picture though.

I don't know what his KPIs are or however his performance is managed, but surely Rhode has had long enough in the position. What has he delivered over the last 5 years?

We need a good football operations manager, however I'm not sure if there are any floating around at the moment, we'd need to poach a current one from somewhere, which is unlikely.

Cripps definitely not liked nor respected by the midfield group.

That's Ok - he is currently the defensive coach and has never coached the mid-field group.

Damn we need m Wilson back..

He is back, unless that's someone else I'm seeing on the Power bench. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wilson's role within the club increase over time.

I thought that i had read or heard somewhere that this was Cripps last year as assistant coach and that he would become the list manager (or something simliar) from next year.

God help us.

This better not happen PAFC,

Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.

I understand Michael Wilson was invited to be a runner but has been doing interchange steward work. He has also been assisting the physios (his profession) and wants to step up in that role if the currfent incumbents ever move on.

I will shit on the letter, to show how angry i am. There will even be pooey bloody streaks because I projectile shat in anger.

Get ready then guys, because I heard Cripps on radio talking about this not long ago (I think it was pre-match vs the crows). He said he doesn't expect to be coaching next year, has no ambititon to be a senior coach, and is working towards moving into a list management role. Port don't currently have a list manager (another thing we can't afford - whether we can next year is the question).

My first thought was "not bloody likely" but give a bloke a fair hearing. Then take him out and shoot him :(

I'd want to hear his opinions on recruiting decisions of the past - especially where he's assessed a potential recruit or existing player incorrectly. Also what he sees as the most pressing needs now given where he thinks Matty is going. Give me a case where you learned and applied something out of failure, Jason. Show me where you think we are headed, Jason. Is list management where you want to be because you think the club will spend a few years at the bottom, making it a richer choice of pickings ??

We draft someone as a forward who only gets played in defence, or that mid who gets nothing but HBF roles and is now tearing it up at a new club. Yet failure of a draft pick is more often blamed on list managment than on poor coaching. If you can't spot the best spot for a player you've been coaching them for a few years - how are you going to identify the best options at the draft/trade table unless they are presented up to you on a plate ?

Rohde, I don't know what he's doing. Maybe he's the only one who knows how to drive a spreadsheet.
