PICK 43 - West Coast Eagles: Colin GARLAND (North Hobart)

I'm about to head out so I have to make this quick, but i'll write more later.

Versatile CHB/CHF that I am very happy to get. Strong hands and an excellent kick, Garland joins Reid at the club as we attempt to rebuild our talls. More to come..

# 44 - Collingwood - Todd GOLDSTEIN

No secret the Pies need a ruckmen and fortunately I had 4 very good ones to choose from. Hampson,Jacobs and Currie were very close and to be honest I cannot really split them. Seen Currie the most and there is a lot to like.

I went with Goldstein because he is tall, he is athletic, skills are good, he taps to advantage (one thing that was good about the Inside Footy doc was his coaches comment that he thought he was the best he had ever seen at TAC in terms of palming to advantage) and I think ultimately that is what Swan, Pendlebury, Proud and Hislop will need.

I think others may have alluded to the fact he has to work on his skills below his knees - I am actually very happy with them. If there was a downside to this bloke its in the contested mark area. Granted I have only seen him 3 times (only played at TAC level since mid season) but I havent yet really seen that skillset in him

Pies set out to rebuild the midfield - the ruck is a part of that group and we got the man we wanted.

Leaving Pettard was also very difficult.....

Pick 45 - Ricky Pettard
Had my eye on Garland and Pettard, and the decision was made easier for myself. Pettard is a classy midfield/flanker who is a nice size, very versatile (can forward and back aswell as midfield) and strong overhead. Natural footballer, can find alot of the pill and his contested work is very good. Possible queries are his kicking and pace. Both not bad but hard to get a handle on. Having already got Sellar, I am comfortable for the Dogs to go small here. Pettard is so versatile he could play anywhere and join the Doggies band of running play anywhere smalls.

I almost took him with pick 15,macca.No way known will he last this long draft day.:thumbsu:

Melbourne Selection #46 - Andrejs Everitt - 193cm, 76kg

Was targetting Garland, but Everitt isn't a bad option. Bottom aged and skinny, so we will have to be patient. Have to like his agility for his 193cm, seems quick across the ground as well. Reads the play well and is willing to run off his opponent and counter-attack. Not sure he will ever be the type to play on the monsters at CHB, but if he bulks up he might become a mobile counter-attacking CHB, otherwise we can play him on the third tall. Need to bolster or KPD depth and we are happy to snag Everitt with our third round selection

You're up McPhee.

Are we stopping after the third round and waiting until the second list lodgement?

Pick #47-Sam Jacobs-Essendon

Sam is a young ruckmen from SA who is very agile for his size and i just cant help but think he is a bit underrated by people on here. I seriously believe he is the 2nd best ruck prospect available in the draft. Essendon may or may not be looking for another ruckmen in the draft as they have 3 on the main list in Hille , Laycock and Ryder and one on the rookie list in Mckinnon. If we dont take on in the ND i think we'll take one in the Rookie draft or maybe PSD.

Another ruckman.

At least it wasn't the ruck I want at pick 51.

*touchwood*

Adelaide Pick #48 Justin Westhoff (Central District)

With a key midfielder, KP defender in the bag for the crows it is time to add some much needed height and skill to the forward line and I see Justin as the best available KP forward left in the draft.

Skinny yet extremely mobile tall, with a very accurate kick, at one stage he had 20 goals 3 for the year. Has performed strongly in some of his SANFL games, almost turning it on its head with some quickfire goals. Not afraid to find the footy, has racked up 22 touches from CHF. Strong mark of the footy, reads the ball so well and just floats into the pack and takes the mark, or reads it early and makes his lead. Has big motor and excellent pace off the mark as well as very strong defensive qualities to harass and keep the footy in the forward lines, will chase down players who think he is too big and slow and get them. Would have to be the most mobile and agile 197cm player I have ever seen, can effectively turn around on a 5 cent piece. Has a real look of a taller Hentschel about him and would definitely fit into the crows forward structure, especially after he adds some beef to his frame, his game impact will increase even further.

Yep, then West Coast, then Carlton.
Although, are we breaking after the end of round 3 until final list lodgements?

i think we need to get confirmation that pick 50 will be the last till the 17th.

i dont think we will have any problems getting thru the picks as they stand after then, its only taken us a week to do three rounds, so i reckon we will be ok.

Sounds fair to me.
Guess it's up to Hodgey as he is running it.

The group that we have assembled should get through the remaining picks pretty quickly after the 17th. Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. :thumbsu:

By the way, absolutely brilliant draft guys and a pleasure to be involved with.

GO U GOOD THING ACTIVATION EVEN FROM UR SHOCKING BARRIER DRAW, RIDE FOR LUCK RODD. :D :D

i concur. its been fun, and very very interesting.

SYDNEY PICK 49 David Mackay (Oakleigh Chargers)

Classy midfielder who has pace and super skills and had a terrific TAC Grand Final.A bit light at this stage but like Renouf he can develop in the 2's as he won't have to be rushed.
