Guys what Eddy are you talking about?
is it josh from the falcons last year

nope Rob mate.

It's wierd how there is one really good ruckman (Leungberger, and one okay ruckman (Renouf) and the rest are a gamble.

Riewoldt, Mourish, Sheringham, Dzufer and Colbung. Happy with Colbung and Sheringham, not happy with Mourish, who is a gamble, rather a Brown.

As for Riewoldt, that would mean that Richmond uses it's first two picks on a KPP, which it wont do, it will pick a small and tall. With Proud on offer, Richmond would more likely pick up him and then pick up a Brown or even a ruckman in Renouf than go all KPP.

The reason why I say this is in the past two years, TW has decided to balance his picks between small and tall. Last year it was a midfielder then a KPP. The year before is was small, small, small, tall, small, tall, tall tall. What that means is that even though our first pick wont be a KPP (unless one of the top four falls through) our second pick will be. Richmond is in effect trying to emulate West Coast, who's forwards aren't high national draft picks, or even national draft picks at all.

Anyway, it's all theory here, my opinon is not completely right, and I don't mean to slander whoever picked for Richmond, this is just my opinon so take it or leave it as pyss if you think it is.

This brings up an interesting question as to the motivation of doing this phantom draft.....i was talking about this with HBF......seeing in all likelihood there won't be a footydraft, are people looking to us and do we have a responsibility to choose who we think the actual clubs we are representing will choose in the real draft? For example, i selected Benjamin with my first pick but do not necessarily belive that Melbourne would do so.....I am choosing purely on the basis of who i would select if i were the clubs RM. Are other people playing the game this way or are they choosing who they think the club they are representing will actually take?

Good question

This trial version i just took the best available. The players that i rated highly. The silly season hasnt started with trading so really have no idea which way clubs need to go because they might address issues at the trade table etc.

I dunno do we ;

Pick who we rate

OR

Pick who our club needs and we think they would be looking at etc etc

Who I like in line of what Leigh has said. The club will be looking for mobile and skilled players across all lines.

After trade week and once the final list date we will be able to assess our club's needs and we may draft according to what the club may pick up.

At this stage it is too early. What we have provided is a glimpse at some of the players that will be looked at in this draft. All those w,ankers expressing indignation of why this player did not get picked up or was picked up to low or too high, cant see it for what it is. Information sharing thread.

How old is Daniel Ebert? Isn't he like late 20's?

Very surprised Ben Ross, Shane Edwards, Lachie George and Lindsay Thomas have not been drafted.

All boys have pace and good skills.

We often overlook good, quick, smaller players.

Thunderstruck - any of these boys would be good with your last pick.

You have done a good job so far.

Agreed bigman, they would all be considered unlucky. Ryan Anderson is another one i like, only 176cm but very quick and skillful.

Edwards is very, very skinny. But he is a good tackler and pretty tough, would mind him on our rookie list.

Yes i also agree. those four all good players, i like Ben Ross he brings a lot to the table and has slipped a lot further than i would have thought. will be a bonus

Cheers mate, yeah I know those guys are still there, d/w I have my eye open, a lot of SA boys still there that have not been snapped up. But this is a trial draft, I'm not saying im Bluffing but things might not quite be same when we do our official phantom draft. You dont muck about with early picks tho lol, you go for who u think are best.

Edwards is quick, and makes quick decisions and skills are good but sometimes he can give the odd turnover, and geez he is small. He is wiry, has no fat on him but is a twig. He is just like a small Jordan Russell or Scotty Bamford type of player.

Yer, I was impressed with Daniel Ebert yesterday, he reads the play so well across half back, always there to get the hard ball and clear the footy, good pace, good intensity and good skills. Not sure on his age?

Well I mean it's fine just picking who you think is the best but it makes it a bit unrealistic. I don't know if you were trying to create a realistic draft or something but picking the "best available" is not what teams do.

For instance Jetta might be the best available for Richmond but Richmond already has a very similar player in Tambling and a host of HFF such as Krakouer, Pettifer and Brown, so it's unlikely that Richmond would select Leyroy as their first pick. Jetta might be fantastic but as we've seen recently with Hawthorn and Richmond, teams pick to certan needs.

As I said I don't mean to bag your efforts and they are alot better than what I would do as I have limited if no knowledge of the upcoming draftees. However saying that, people have to look at what a club is likely to pick, instead of just picking some player.

Jetta is more than a HFF and i wouldnt be suprised one bit if richmond took Leroy with there first pick. Krakouer is a FP and rumours are he will be traded and Brown will be 29 and be more of a permanent FP next year.

When it comes to our real phantom draft i will try to keep in mind Melbourne's needs, but as i have stated before i see their list as having no glaring deficiencies so who i consider to be best available would be my approach....whether this coincides with what i think Melbourne will do in the draft, well who even knows who will be available at their pick, i am relying on the 'punters' before me to get those picks correct too. In other words i am choosing as if i were the Melbourne RM (thank god for them I'm not!!) with still keeping in mind team balance and needs. In other words, i don't think readers should necessarily look towards this phantom draft as beinig a good predictor of who will go where, because there are too many different people involved, no doubt with varying levels of football knowledge. I would be looking more towards Burgatron's phantom draft that he does each year on the AFL web-site.

I have picked who I think West Coast should pick, not what I expect them to pick.

West Coast - Carl Peterson (Sinepari has seen a lot more of him than I have, so I hope he'll do a write up for him)

Sydney - Nathan Batsanis

Best skills by foot of anyone in the draft. Can hit leading targets 50m+ of both feet. Can also get his own ball, but isn't quick (not slow though) and height is an issue. Also may struggle to play anywhere other that as a midfielder. However I think he has a lot to offer a club at AFL level.

My view with Dees is they have plenty of mids and will probably try for talls at both ends. Seem to have some depth in the rucks so that doesnt strike as a big issue. Neitz getting on is an issue and they still seem to lack tall defenders of real note.

Adelaide pick #82 Zac Millar (North Adel)

Happy to see this dude slip a bit, has been playing pretty good footy for SANFL ressies, among the best many times. He is pretty quick without being explosive, good foot skills and can be dangerous aroung goals. Not as small as some traditional aboriginal goalsneaks. Question remains on committement but on his talent alone he is a worthy pick up.

While i agree with you snoop, i don't think they would necessarily go with a tall round 1 if they don't legitimately think they were best available....maybe go tall second or third round. Bizzell and Nietz are on the way out, so obviously some KPP depth would be handy. While you say they have depth in the rucks, i'm not sold on Jamar or Johnson, Smith might pinch hit as a back-up ruckman but is only 196cm.

A pretty good pick up at #82 i would think.
