Rozee being called soft is bullshit. He's won All Australian guernseys as a midfielder, winning his own ball and driving us forward. He can play anywhere on the ground. He's an elite footballer. I think we'd be better off getting him back into the midfield, but that'll be up to Carr.

He could play in exactly the same way and have a stupid mullet, a few shit tatts and a scruffy beard and nobody would ever call him soft.

We haven't got the quality to have Rozee, Butters and JHF in the middle. Gotta put JHF forward and Rozee back.

Under the old system we relied a lot more on individual brilliance in the forward line and elite ball users coming out of defence.

I'm hoping Carr can reduce our reliance on those factors. No doubt our forward line functioned more normally this year based around Georgiades than it had been based around hospital balls to Dixon, we just never had our best forward line available.

I'm hoping we can have them all predominantly in the midfield in 2026.

With the retirement of Rioli, the only player in my opinion with similar goal sense and ability to evade is Rozee. In an ideal world, I'd play Rozee as a HF with pinch hits in midfield while I play JHF midfield with pinch hits up forward. But we currently don't have the creativity and run off half back to allow Rozee to go forward.

So the list management either needs to prioritises a run and carry half back with good kicking skills in the off season or a high goal sense small forward. The former type is easier to find.

Carr got rid of two guys who were known for their sublime kicking from defence to set up forays into the F50 in Dylan Williams and Ryan Burton so it might mean he is going to try something different.

I get the feeling he's going to go for a more one on one type defence but we will see. I also get the feeling that he likes speed.

Rozee could play that Petracca type role.
Before Rozee went back, the backline was a complete mess and he really brought some class to it and straightened it up.
Unless we find that run and carry half back, I'd keep him back there but I really like the idea of Rozee up forward given the lack of goal kicking ability we will have.
The other alternative would be to pick up a goal kicking small forward and keep Rozee back.

I have been a bit harder on Connor cause he is the captain but the last what 5/6 weeks ho could of put his tail between his legs and called it a season ..

No he kept playing and actually showed huge improvement in his defending could of been AA to be honest

Do not be fooled. His physicality is fleeting and fragile.

I've been pretty critical of Rozees physicality and on field leadership but I thought he showed some good signs latw in the season.

Played with a broken hand, put himself in the guys when the team needed a lift and laid some big tackles. Hopefully he is growing into the role.

Should be put with Tim Giniver as a mentor to learn what is expected of a Port captain.
