People think he is soft because he tries to toe-poke the ball off the ground and gets bumped off it instead of putting his body over the ball. Realistically he is just trying to utilise his physical advantages which are his pace and agility however when it doesn't come off it looks weak.

People only think he’s soft because he’s good looking.
I think he’s soft because his contested/hardball/groundball and tackle numbers are very poor for a midfielder.

Loves to receive from teammates and pirouette around opponents, doesn’t love to put his head over the ball.

He needs to park the permanent mopey face. Wouldn’t kill him to smile a bit when he talks, as a leader he should try to exude some confidence/charisma even if it’s fake.
You can just tell he doesn't quite know how to outwardly act as a leader and it doesn't come naturally to him.

He probably thinks wearing a permanent scowl is the way to go because it shows he's serious, but as you say it's okay to have some personality and charisma as a leader too...like Butter does.

All boils down to the fact that the best leader at our club isn't the captain, but understandably so if he isn't willing to commit long-term

I think he's soft because he has a 'go-to' jeweller.

So did Boak. The same jeweller. Was Boak soft? Are players not allowed to have sponsors now?

Yep, and cleancut, and not a naturally strong build. Despite being a 2xAA midfielder and clearly strong and hard enough to play that role at an elite level.

hes an outside midfielder where he uses pace and skill, theres awlays a need for both types in a side

This is complete and utter bullshit. He wins plenty of his own ball wherever he plays.

You're talking about him like he's Kane Lucas or Nathan Lonie.

2xAA guernseys as a centre square midfielder before his 25th birthday, "too soft" to play there apparently.

We were a top 6 clearance differential side in 2022-23-24 when he played in there even with some of the most dogshit ruck setups imaginable, then in 2024 when he was switched to halfback, we're bottom 4.

Connor Rozee is too soft though. He couldn't possible play centre square mid.

Add to that, he was playing at an AA level in both 2024 as a mid and 2025 at HB before injury. If there's anything you could criticise him for it is trying to play through injuries, which has derailed him in both years. The opposite of soft.

He's the closest thing Port have had to Wanganeen, a freak who can play at AA level at any position. Like Wanganeen, he's probably not suited that well to captaincy-- I could see him giving it up at some point once someone like JHF demands it.

Are people not allowed to make jokes now?
