Murphy is what makes the draft so exciting. No one had heard of him now it appears we may bite at 6, and if we dont tge dogs might take him at 9. By the end of the draft he might be selected by north with their pick 4, he is shaoing as the mover, aka the bont and degoey.

Brayshaw Naughton Hayes Murphy... at this rate we'll get Rayner dropping to 6 :p

If Stephenson is there, I have little to no doubt that he'll be the pick. He performs in big games, kicks goals, has pace to burn and a real x-factor, plus the versatility to play in a number of roles.

If he goes before our pick, in addition to Rayner, Dow, LDU and Cerra, I'm not entirely sure which direction Hine heads in. Fogarty seems like he could be thereabouts. Neither Naughton or Brander strike me as being the right type. Guys like Coffield and Brayshaw seem like they'd make sense, but don't leap off the page as likely candidates.

Aidan Bonar maybe a smokey as that big, athletic, potential midfielder in the Pendlebury and Bontempelli mould.

Get Aiden Bonar and put him at FF :)

I don't know anymore....... Best available but it's doing my head in.

Hard isn't it! The top 4 or 5 seem to be pretty similar wherever you look, but after that it gets hard to predict. That and, as per De Goey etc, there often seems to be the draft day surprise.

Not to mention Bishop (or Pie 4 Life, I'm not sure which) mentioned that Nathan Murphy had been invited to draft night on Friday next week, which is generally a good sign that they're going to go top ten.

It means they're in contention. They usually invite 15 odd players. Last year Josh Battle was invited and he went at 39.

Has Balta been invited, out of curiosity?

Don't know he entire list yet because only players have been told at this stage so it's only really close friends and teammates that might know. We usually find out the full list next week some time (fortnight out from draft).

Makes me wonder if the top ten is done informally between the clubs before the night itself, otherwise what's to stop a club at pick 9 thinking 'hey, the Cats really know their stuff, let's take Cockatoo at 9.'

Unlikely I guess, but it does make me wonder.

Could be as the Top 10 Mock Drafts on the Morning of the Draft are Nearly always Correct or very close to it

I really like the look of Murphy in that video. As good as Any of the others I’ve seen. Vision and quick decision making looks elite and ability to hit targets under pressure looked good. Strong hands too. Just looks like a natural footballer. Obviously has lack of exposed form. I don’t ever buy into all the well he is not rated in the top....bulltish. Pendles was rated 15 to 20 by so called experts.

De Goey was also Rated around Pick 10-20 until Info Came we are big on him.

Muphy does seem someone Hine Would Like as he:

- Young
- Not Much Time in Elite AFL Environment
- Sounds to have Big Upside
- Good Head on his Shoulders

Does sound very much a Hine Type and be a Little Shock IF we Draft Murphy

Draft is still 3 Weeks Away

Don't let it do your head in. The recruiting department don't need or want our help.
While it's enjoyable to look at the highlights of these young blokes, our recruiting staff know their strengths & weaknesses a hell of a lot better than we do.
Just trust them to do their jobs. We don't influence their picks here at Bigfooty. I know I know, it's a bitter pill to swallow. ;)

2008 draft was the last time I got all consumed by the highlights videos. I thought I knew better than our staff.
Tom Swift was our pick for sure. Star written all over him. Needless to say when Hine picked Sidebottom I thought "Hine what have you done?"

But shock horror - Swift was average & ended up retiring as a youngster to pursue medicine. Wasn't up to the level.
Sidebottom has currently played 185 games, is a premiership player & Copeland trophy winner.
Then Hine took Beams at Pick 29 :)
The lesson I leaned is Hine knows his stuff & so do his staff. I on the other hand know diddly squat. :)

I have way more faith in our recruiters selection than I do in selecting the Melbourne Cup winner. It's best they are in charge and not me but I can't help being invested even though I will have zero impact in the outcome.

I can't see any big surprises for our pick 6, something tells me Hines job depends on this.
He needs to get this pick right so i think he will play it safe.

It sounds underwhelming taking a KPP after the lead-up because they take a long time to develop but I’m really warming to Aaron Naughton. Very professional, already loves the club, has lived in Vic before so would surely have family connections down here.

Just watching him, I know he’ll be a star. I know it. He marks everything that comes his way and is very good one-on-one, he can shut his opponent out of the game and have a huge impact with few disposals.

He’s ready to go as well I reckon. Could play very early in 2018.

I’m with you on Naughton too. Saw some of his WAFL footage and it was very impressive. I would be fine with taking him at 6.

Well l am shock to read this:mad:, that Hine does not read our board and take notices of us, with all our insights of five minute videos we have gone over.
Hopefully he will next year and get it right:).

The Highlight Video can Lie. As just really 2-4 minutes of the Whole Season. Just a best of and most players can be looked good doing Thay

If we are going tall, it does make sense to go with Naughton. But wether he is the best option, not sure.
