True but at least the rookie list is less of a risk, than the stupid mistake we took taking a project player (Steinberg) so early in the ND in his draft year.
Will be interested if we have a look at any more category B rookies as well.

Apparently GC were going to take him with their next pick so we had to trump them

I just saw that.. (someone said Dodoro confirmed we won't take him)

I am really liking the sound of Jack's little love child, Luke Reynolds for 26. A medium marking forward with one of the best rated kicks in this draft. Question marks on consistency and decision making, at 26, you arent going to get the complete package anyways. About time we got a decent South Australian anyways.

Gus?

Gus with a sort of Goddard leg, not quite Myers, but still bloody hoofs it

That's who I was thinking of. Anyone else you can remember in the past few years?
Not that I can think off the top of my head anyways

I'm not even sure Brown will last to 55, although in reality i think it's now become about 53, maybe even 52 because of rookie upgrades.

Agree that he is probably that 'tweener' who could slide to 55 or be snapped up moments after out first pick at 26.

Im seriously thinking we might not even take a genuine mid at all.

Maybe an inside wrecking ball, but we have Hams, Kavanagh even Browne who could play that inside role. Whilst not to a high level, yet. We have the potential IMO.

Keep thinking we should go something like this with our 4 picks;

- medium forward/best available (more than likely at 26)
- ruckmen
- KPP
- utility

I was thinking Gus in the good SA sense

Next best is Hank Slattery. We have a production line in WA though, about 1/3 of our list is from there

We have a gun Queenslander even (Courtney Dempsey for those of you playing at home) but not a gun South Australian. How disappointing considering they are the 'form state' of recent years in 18's football.

Who are the most likely targets with our first pick in the draft? Give me three names please that you are hoping will still be there then.

Garlett, Apeness, Dumont seem to be strongly linked to us. Wouldn't mind Marsh, Reynolds or JKH either.

I could probably pick it if you gave me ten goes at it. I did a phantom last week which I was going to put up here but my computer has shit itself and I completely lost it unfortunately.

Heart says Garlett, head says JKH, gut says Templeton.

I hope we get a hold of cam conlon somehow, he and daniher would be the dominant aerial duo in the country

Garlett with 26, Conlon with 55? Buckets of x-factor right there.

I'd love it if we took a risk on Conlon.
Could do a reverse Gumby.
Anyone seen "Unbreakable"?, well Gumby is Samuel L. Jackson, Conlon is Bruce Willis.

Imagine if we got Impey/JKH at 26, Honeychurch at 55 and Conlon at 66?

If ever the time for us to take 'projects' it would be now I would have thought, hence my affair with us selecting Garlett. First round talent in the second round? yes please!

What is the point in taking projects if there is a perfectly serviceable player waiting to be picked? It seems like risk taking for the sake of taking risks.

Bomber has basically squashed the link to Garlett. Dumont won't last.

I don't like the idea of getting a ruck like Apeness for the sake of getting a ruck. He seems mediocre at best and will take several years to mature enough to play senior footy which does nothing for our immediate need for ruck depth. Using our early pick on a guy who may well not be on the list in 4 years seems really dumb, we aught to be looking for safer options that still tick off list deficiencies that we have.
