Just a thought, and this may already exist, but here goes:

Which team/s would you like to see win a premiership so that a player on that team can finish, knowing they got the ultimate prize in AFL?

For example:
Freo for David Mundy's sake. He's been through all the highs and lows, stuck with freo despite lucrative offers from teams in his home state and he gives it everything, every game.
Adelaide for Eddie Betts sake. Champion of the game and a very good role model for indigenous players, indeed, for all players.
Carlton for Kade Simpson's sake. Again, he has stuck with carlton through some of the toughest times in their history, deserves a premiership medallion.

Thoughts?

No one really currently as cynical as that sounds.

I wanted Pav and Lenny Hayes to win one in years gone by.

Those were the two names that I first thought of as well along with Matthew Richardson and Nick Riewoldt.

Other than Mundy and Nathan Jones, I can't really think of any other current players.

Shaun Burgoyne. Hasn't played in nearly enough finals.

Other than WC players probably Betts or Boak. Betts has played 300 and given plenty of entertainment to neutrals. Has played a few finals and done well since moving to Adelaide. Boak was taken in the 2006 draft so missed the good Port side of the early 2000s. Did play in the 2007 GF but 2008 to 2012 was a horrible 5 year stretch for Port on and off field and he stuck with the club when he could've easily moved back to Victoria.

Sloane and Fyfe, among many of their qualities, embody the same spirit which endeared the likes of Hayes and Pavlich to me and supporters of other clubs.

Dylan Shiel is one I previously wouldn't have minded especially with how 2017 ended up, can't quite endorse that since his change of scenery. A GWS premiership led by him and Himmelberg would've been a good show.

EDIT: Also, NicNat!

Brett Deledio. I always thought that if there was one player I wouldn’t mind leaving our club for success it was Brett Deledio. He came when we were a rabble and was our club’s shining hope for over a decade. It’s something that I don’t think any Richmond supporter would deny.

We know what happened the year after his departure, but I don’t blame him for leaving us in order to get success. He had it with our mediocrity when we fell out of finals again and I understand.

Obviously I want to see Richmond players get a Premiership before him at any given year, but if I were to choose a non-Richmond player it’d be him. Fyfe, Mundy and Dangerfield would be the players not affiliated with Richmond that I would like to see get a Premiership. One’s a loyal Fremantle club man and the other two are stars of the competition. Dangerfield especially hasn’t even played in a Grand Final yet, so it’d be nice to see him play in one.

I'd be happy for Chris Mayne if he won one with the Pies, and rather pleased for myself as well.
