The Standard warranty has expired (Day 1 Console), Someone here mentioned it should be still covered under australian laws or something? cant seem to the find the post thoughNo. I think you might be right though, my disc reader laser or whatver on the PS3 did the same thing, loud buzzing/crunchy sort of sound, ended up having to replace it twice. Luckily it was under warranty, yours should be too.

November 29th 2013 so nearly 17 months ive had it for, Will give this a look now, CheersHow long after warranty (I can't remember when they launched)? You still shouldbe ok under consumer law as the console is expected to last longer. Maybe look up the https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees
