I don't remember them previously playing the NZ anthem before the game, but I haven't really watched the pre game stuff for around a decade and it was a bit of a fluke I turned on the TV and caught it as I thought the game had already started.

They've been playing it for a few years now. It's a good national anthem, especially when you include the Maori bit.

That's good that they acknowledge the kiwis. Having watched a lot of ruby tests, the NZ and South African national anthems with their multiple languages are stand out anthems and it helps having good tunes and lyrics. Plus they have singers who can hit those high notes helps.
