He was determined to move home to WA or his partner's state of SA but none of those clubs could meet his demands, apparently. Still desperately unlucky for the Pies, regardless.

I still remember Primus having a free hit at picking up the reigning AA halfback with a PSD pick that offeason and passing on him so we could get more game time into Ben Jacobs, Matt Thomas and Darren Pfeiffer. Sometimes his faults weren't all about lack of resources.

I remember listening to trade radio and apparently he wanted an extra 50k on his deal.
Yeah, Collingwood tried to skimp on Leon Davis's contract and lost him for nothing. Why another club didn't pick him up is a mystery.

Maybe his contact wouldn't have left room to bring Ebert back? Monfries in 2013? Sliding doors and all.

Its one way to look at it, the other is that its just their turn for the downward spiral. They had their run from 07-12 and their results say they are just on the back end of that bell curve now

Apparently they had the third youngest team in the league in R1 2012 (ahead of only GC and GWS) coming off a GF appearance.

Its true they did. They had 7 players play who'd played under 15 games in that Round 1 team, as they had a number of injuries to start the year.

They did have the youngest premiership side in a very long time in 2010. History will show they made 5 prelims in 6 years, 3 grand finals, 1 premiership. Thats a pretty significant time at the top and not many can sustain that for another 4-5 years like people have expected Buckley to do.

In that time they had only 1 first round pick - Steele Sidebottom. They got nothing remaining from the 07 draft, only Ben Sinclair left from 09, only Fasolo left from 10 and noone from the 11 draft. They traded their picks to get guys like Jolly & Tarrant in. Then you look at the following drafts. They got 3 top 20 picks in 12 where they got Grundy, Kennedy and Broomhead, only Grundy is any good. In 2013 they picked Scharenberg and Freeman. Scharenberg perma-injured and Freemans at St Kilda being perma-injured.

So the cost of them winning a flag and spending 6 years as a contender were bringing in **** all talent to the club, which we are all seeing now. Hawthorn is about to go through the same thing.

They've probably got themselves stuck in that no mans land a little bit in the sense that they haven't been finishing low enough to get the really high end draft picks. They've also made the decision to trade picks for establiahed talent and it hasn't really worked for them as much as they maybe thought it would.

Tough position for Bucks.

How does Talia ping a hammy then still be in the frame to play the next week?
After the Hawthorn game Jenkins was still in the frame to play us. Basically, the only news that is allowed to come out of West Lakes is positive news.
