Paddy Ryder and Byron Pickett are in this team:

Brothers punctuate gun Noongar side

IT’S the ultimate dream team, as players who shone in their own era are brought together to shine a light on the extraordinary contribution of the Noongar nation as a whole.

The Sunday Times today presents the Noongar Team of Champions, picked for the Noongar Footy Magicdocumentary series to be previewed at Subiaco Oval this afternoon.

While the careers of some of these 24 stars are separated by as many as six decades, there are also strong blood ties which link the greatest Noongar footballers of our time.

Remarkably, one-third of the team has a brother who has been selected alongside him. The Team of Champions contains four sets of siblings — Jimmy and Phil Krakouer, Keith and Phil Narkle, Peter and Phil Matera and Stephen and Bradley Hill, along with many others whose lineage weaves through other members of the team.

I think LT might grow another leg  playing to more than 12k when he runs out to a roaring AO.
A stage he might thrive on.

That’s alright mate! He saved his best for 75k at the g.

Can’t replicate that shit at Alberton

I will never forget traveling over to Docklands to watch Us v Northern Kangaroos and walking in the promo was something along the lines of whatever the crowd was would be the discount at their gear shop for the week... there was about 13k at the ground and I remember hearing one of their few members complaining that his usual 15% members discount was being slashed!

North Melbourne have literally never played a H&A game with a recorded crowd of 75k or more. Nor have they played a home H&A game in front of even 50k or more during Lindsay's entire career. Other than that, top quality post.

I think/hope he'll play a fair bit of AFL next yr. What some of your posters have said about his off field stuff was
an eye opener. All the best for next year. What you guys did to our neighbours in Hobart was one of last seasons'
highlights for me and plenty of other Port fans.

LoL this guy must of had a dream his team played in front of a decent crowd.

North is such a pathetic excuse for a club. Just fold already will you?
Really?

Good history.
Anti establishment.
Struggle a bit with crowds sometimes.

Sounds like most clubs.

Yep, as if we haven't struggled with crowds. My 12k was about the clip that was put up re LT kicking the goal minus a boot.
Can see how/why it was not well received. I don't hate on Norf and let's be honest they've had our measure more than a few times.
The hyped BS that surrounds C/wood aka club Kournikova gets up my nose a lot lot more than the Roos.
They've gotta fight for their oxygen and we know a bit about what that's like.

I lost all respect for them when they rejected the GC move.

They should've gone and the comp would've been better for it.

As far as recent success, if you call losing prelims success, particularly getting flogged in prelims, then yeah they've had that.

Personally success to me is having the best opportunity ity to win it all (making a GF) or actually winning it all.

North are probably the most insignificant club in the comp and should be the first to go if the comp is ever consolidated.

You are saying this without a hint of irony.

Additionally, why would you lose respect for a club for fighting for their heritage? Hypocrisy.

You lack respect for them because they fought to survive? They don't owe the 'AFL' a ****ing thing if it means they will no longer exist.

There aren't many things more traumatic for a dedicated football follower than losing their club.

Why you would wish that upon someone is a mystery to me.

I get that was an uninformed smartarse comment by the North supporter but asymmetrical responses hardly help.

Dude, turn it up! Swap North in your post for Port circa. 2011/12, then see how you feel about what you posted. They were a struggling club trying save their history, as someone pointed out, thats something we know a bit about. Save that kind of post for the bay.

It has happened to me (and the clubs I love) twice, both times fan power won the club back!

They’re not owned by someone who hates them and they don’t play their home games at another clubs training facility. Our situations were nothing alike.

Drum roll..... enter stage left..... the one and only (thank god) James Brayshaw. Maybe he's a better person than he appears
but warm to him?............nup.
IMO he's highjacked North to give his life relevance.
Maybe i'm wrong on all counts.

There is another perspective on this and that is that there were plenty of WAFL and SANFL clubs (excluding Port, but it could easily have included us) bigger than North Melbourne who lost their support and profile when the VFL swallowed the national football market and became the AFL, granting VFL clubs of all shapes and sizes admission into a national competition that remains very exclusive in every other state. North's existence in the AFL is largely an accident of history.

But yeah having said that they are a harmless club who don't do anything to offend anyone so no need to hate on them.
