.. the Intercontinental never got permission from the Adelaide City Council to put up that giant guernsey or whatever it is, so now they have to take it down ASAP apparently.
Slightly surprising that the Council has the authority to dictate that. Where is the relevant info?

where did you get that from?

the writer says it is a dream scenario for melb and unlikely to happen.

it then goes on to quote mark evans as stating that it would be possible for melb to get some sort of pick it wouldnt be a first round pick and there is pressure in the industry to never hand out front end of draft picks again.

that to me is as black and white as it can be from the man who himself would be making the decision on the matter.
A Melbourne supporter posted it in an AFL thread on another forum, I doubt they'll get all 3 but I personally don't think they should even get a 2nd top 5 pick if they lose Frawley.

Sick of Melbourne taking all the top draft picks & turning them into spuds, especially seeing it happen to players like Trengove & Toumpas.

Not really. I imagine most cities have some type of law about what can be put in sight on city skylines. eg no building can advertise (even their own) along the River Thames in London.

Someone who works in the ACC told me so i don't have any official link.

I disagree, there has to be some way to remedy the effects on a club in a situation like this. And remember even a top 5 pick is not 'like for like' compensation for a proven top forward.

Top 10 pick maybe but I just don't think they deserve another top 5 pick, it's overkill based on the sheer number of handouts they've been given over the last decade.

They got given more for Scully leaving than the Cats got for losing the best player in the comp, they had pick 2 last year & traded it with their 2nd rounder for Tyson & #9 back it's not like they don't have talent already on their list.

I don't know I'm just sick of compromised drafts, I thought they'd be over after GWS/GC came in but there have been multiple top picks given to clubs still because they're losing 'star' players like Dale Thomas & soon to be Squibbs & Chips.

Does anyone really think Carlton deserve to get another top pick for Gibbs all because he was taken at pick #1?

His previous draft position has zero to do with it.
Not zero as draft position is still one part of the compensation selection criteria.

Him getting paid top dollar in a long contract from the Crows for example is more about his draft position & their fascination of the player he could be & not because of the standard of player he currently is.

I actually wouldn't mind if the Crows get Gibbs in 2015 - it's not as if he's tearing the competition apart. Mind you he's got a few mates in the same boat at Carlton: mediocrity is a disease that seems to filtering throughout that club right now. Adelaide seems to enjoy recruiting spuds (their latest being Spudsiadly), so why not another one next year?

No that is not correct unless the rules have changed. Compensation is judged purely on age of the player and value of contract (length x amount)

If the crows are going to pay a player based on what position he was drafted then they are in a bigger hole than we could ever dream. And of course you are going to target a player based on what you believe the 'player he could be'.

I just heard on the radio the cows are making at least 21 changes to the side that forgot to run back on the ground after three quarter time in each of the last 3 games. Sanderson believes the players have picked up a virus from their fans which renders you unable to count past three. Doctors say this is a 19th generation viral mutation, hence the common medical term nineteenthmannitis, or Moron's Syndrome.

Breaking news, Graham Cornes has blasted the AFL for refusing to change to 2 halves like in soccer. "This bias, obviously started by Port and supported by the Victorian AFL mafia is designed purely to damage the Crows" he thundered from a payphone in the grounds of the mental hospital where he insists he is a permanent visitor, not a patient. "Obviously, he stated, "you can't have last quarter fade outs if you only play 2 halves, but Port are blocking our submission out of pure spite," he claimed.

Maybe they've been told they can't put it up again until they win a game :)
Just came on here to post about that vile 19th man sign on the Intercontinental not showing on the channel TV news tonight in the view of the oval and city that shows behind newsreader Jane Doyle who I understand is a cow fan but not behind John Riddell who is a Port Adelaide supporter and I see others have already mentioned it has now been taken down from the Intercontinental - hallelujah!

I was going to lodge a complaint with ch 7 about that vile 19th man thing and suggest that if they were happy to have the cows colours/sign showing on their TV news set then they should also include something about the PAFC seeing many of our supporters would watch their 6pm news and that there are actually 2 AFL teams in this state (but now I don't have to) - I guess the team for not so many South Australians can now add yet another fail to their ever increasing list of stuff ups.:D

It may have been taken down but at least we have it in meme form to remind us-

Tredders tipping Crows is a bold move. Jack Steven is back & that's a game changer for mine as I already thought the likes of Dunstan, Hayes, Montagna & Riewoldt could've been the difference at Etihad anyway.
They mentioned on 7 news tonight that the Crows appear to be suffering from "performance anxiety." I hope that anxiety only increases further next week, following the loss against the Saints, and becomes a full blown panic attack ahead of the Easter Sunday blockbuster against the Giants!!!!

What I struggle to understand is how come all these players are now suffering anxiety, they have been professional AFL players for years now.
Many of them for at least 5-10 years.
Why is it suddenly anxiety and not just unfit team and shit coach?

There's a nasal spray for that..

I wonder if Paddycakes lies awake at night, thinking, "What if the Port fans are right? What if I really am crap?" :-)

It comes in spray form now?
Gee, you Victorian Queenslanders are waaayyy behind. Actually, it's gone past spray form and into patch form. Or so I'm told...
Stare down that cyclone for us. We could probably spare you Ollie for this week if you need him.
