Also, adding to the trade period el oh el's:

1.27pm: Peter Ryan reports (@afl_petryan) that although Adelaide showed interest in young Giants ruckman Tom Downie during this trade period, he is likely to stay at GWS. With the departure of both Jonathon Giles and Tom Boyd, the Giants need to retain talls. The 203cm 21-year-old has played one game since being drafted in 2011 however he is talented.

Very underwhelming coaching appointments for Adelaide, but they're probably happy with some fresh blood.

Of their 3 coaching appointments this offseason David Teague is the most experienced at his assigned job.

Currently there are 14 teams in round 1 of the draft, 14 teams in round 2, 16 teams in round 3, 15 teams in round 4 and all 18 in round 5. Of course, this does not necessarily mean all teams will be selecting players in these rounds, just that they do have picks.
Three teams do not have a pick till the third round. They are Hawthorn(43), Brisbane(44) and Port(57).
The only teams that have not yet traded are the cows, West Coast, Richmond and Fremantle.

I'd suggest the Hawks are the winners of trade week

Maybe. But the age profile of their list demands heavy trading if they want to stay at the top for another year or two before going into a rebuild. If they had the age profile of our list aggressive trading might not be such a necessity.

3 deals in 5 minutes.

  1. Liam Jones from Western Bulldogs to Carlton in exchange for pick 46.
  2. Shane Biggs and pick 39 to Western Bulldogs, who give Sydney Swans pick 37 in return.
  3. Sam Frost joining Melbourne from GWS. The Demons traded pick 23 in return for Frost, pick 40 and pick 53.

Hawthorn exchange L Lowden K Cheney, R3 (curr43) R3 (curr47) R3 (curr59) to Adel for R2 (curr 31), R3 (curr 50), R4(curr68).
You watch, they're dead set champions who they got for a steal.

As per usual the Adelaide Media will pump up the tires of these players (Hi Rowe!) but I really would have liked to see Lowden in Port Gear, although our luck with Hawthorn & Rucks hasn't been fantastic in the past...
