Very true I remember those words. What's he saying now?

He said the fact we were a kick away from beating the Hawks in the Prelim was false economy, as Brad Hill and Josh Gibson were mucking around early in the last quarter, having a laugh with each other and knew they had us beaten. Basically disrespecting us as usual. He got laughed off by the whole panel (Whately, Brown, Healy and King). King actually took exception to it and called him out twice. Said that Port had it won in the 1st if not for poor kicking for goal and sounded a bit angry when Brereton came over the top of him with something along the lines of "Hawthorn are NEVER out of it". As someone said before, if King is calling you out for slagging us off.........

I use to really like Brereton, but in the last few years my opinion has change. He's nothing but an arrogant campaigner.

I long for the day of our next SUPERSTAR forward, they are so exciting. No offensive to our current forwards
The wait might be a lot longer than you think.

Retired dominant forwards.
Carey - Zone to Sydney but traded for John Longmire
Lloyd - 1995 Preseason draft compensation for losing Todd Ridley to Fremantle. Drafted at age16
Tredrea - Zone
Brown - F/S

Current dominant forwards
Hawkins - F/S
Cloke - F/S
Riewoldt - 1 PP
Roughead - 2
Pavlich - 4
Josh Kennedy - 4
Franklin - 5
Walker - ACT Scholarship
J. Riewoldt - 13

To get a superstar forward you need to bottom out essentially getting a spoon in the process, unless you're lucky enough to get some ridiculous F/S.

Jersen plz.

Dermie has always been a campaigner. Effing good football player, but always been a campaigner.

People ridicule guys like Brian Taylor, Dwayne Russell, David King etc for their commentary/comments but **** me, no-one commentating in any sport does my head in like that campaigner. I'd prefer to listen to Stephen Rowe than Dermott ****ing Brereton! There I ****ing said it!

**** now I have to go wash my mouth out with ****ing kerosene.

Realistically Butcher is our only hope for a while.

That is seriously good. :D

I thought so when I read Titus's piece :) Personally, I could not stand either Scott's brothers as players but now as coaches they are the "days of our lives" contingents of the AFL. Never happy always pissing and crying about something.

Who is the last or has there been a super star forward that has come from outside the first round or obscurity?

Name who you think is or has been a superstar forward since we joined the AFL.

For us Westhoff but I'm not sure we could class him as a superstar.

Chris Grant, back when the Draft was an unscouted joke.

Does Fevola count.

More AA's and Colemans than Brown haha.

Probably. Albeit as a 17yo back when clubs could only pick one each (fun fact: we chose Adam Morgan over him as well as Pav).

Had he entered the draft as an 18 year old the year after he probably would've gone top-10.

I can't think of one to be honest. Westhoff isn't in that category IMO

In 26 games at Sydney he's kicked 69 goals. That's as prolific as anyone these days.

Durability is a question mark, more so than performance.

You forget the most important thing, it's shittet

He also got paid close to a mil a year for that output when we've been getting a similar return for less & added leadership from Schulz for the last 2 years.

No use having a marquee forward that spends more time off the park than on it especially one that's prone to choking in the biggest games.
